please post your tips, questions etc here.

I'll start things off with a question or 2...

from the start, what are the best missions to do?

how do I stash surplus goods at a dump?..  the  garbage is too radioactive to survive, but I am told to leave things there.

should I be wearing better stuff?  how/where do i get it?

that'll do fer now:D

The first thing that I found out is to not get to many quests at once as some quests have timers. Can't really say which onces are the best. I'll just try and take all of them.

There are 3 traders, first is the guy that "helps" you out at the beginning, your startingpoint. Second is the barowner and the third is the professor. These guys have unlimited money so they can buy your expensive stuff lateron in the game. At the bar and at the professor you can get some really good quests. Especially in the bar, almost everyone in there has a quest for you.
EDIT: the 3 traders will buy anything you have, other NPC's like soldiers and fellow stalkers wont buy everything from.

You'll get better gear throughout missions and sometimes will come upon pieces that you can take with you (also check stashes).

Don't forget to use the anomalies on your belt (top right when you press "i"). Some give you more endurance or less bleeding.

What I did is start off with a pistol, then got a shotgun and pistol and lateron in the game (now), I'm only using 1 assaultgun with a scope (you can unload scopes from some weapons and upload to others). Just yesterday-evening before ending my gaming I came upon a bad ass looking sniperrifle, haven't tryed it yet as getting through a part of the quest is difficult, lots of radiation and mutated dogs (the big bad ones).
So stacking up on guns isn't necessary as throughout playing you get better, more expensive guns. Just make sure that the gun you use has a green bar as it would otherwise lock up to much.

That;s it for now, need to get back to work.

A patch has been released for STALKER. Seemingly you will be unable to use ANY of your saved games after installing it. More info on Hexus forums:

Been reading that, it seems to be a multiplayergamepatch right?
I reckon they'll give out a singleplayerpatch aswell. Not sure if I want to play Stalker in multiplay yet as I find singleplayer pretty good so far.

Although it does look as if it changes the way the game works quite a bit and makes it more involved.

The main points being.......

1. NPC's don't have super vision and hearing and won't lock onto you straight away, stealthy progress is now possible.
2. Armour now takes damage and needs repairs.
3. The local traders actually carry some expensive kit and armour.

General consensus on that board is that its worth the restart for better gameplay. Pity, the artifacts I have allowed me to merily sprint across entire levels without being fatigued too much and healed me as well.

DuVeL

Mhhhmmzzz, good points overall then...:g:
I'm seriously reconcidering it now as I've allready missed 2 quests because of the time of them running out (before I knew what happend).

Gorion

remember that many of the anomalies add rad. you can either use vodka or anti rad drugs. or there are some artefacts that lessen rad. one is found in the level: sterloks stash

and keep away from the whirgling anomaly, unless you save before!

soul artifact location(+500% health): garbage area, just under the trees after the bandit boss camp, SAVE before trying

ime waiting for the next patch to restart/continue playing, the game is too bloody buggy atm

ATT: Dont install the patch, just installed it so i can see what "new" stuff the trader has. Crashes while trying to create a new game (tried around 5times now)

The patch worked for me.
There is a different version btw for US and Europe so make sure you have the correct one.

Not sure. You'd better get the Euroversion to be sure.
If you don't have an account on FilePlanet then add me to your MSN or such so I can send you the file (I have a Free account at Fileplanet but you still have to wait 15 minutes for the download to begin, must say that the download goes pretty fast though, if you want my FilePlanet user account and download through that then PM me).
