Add no swearing to MOTD?

For some reason, swearing, while the only issue not on the motd, has up to now been the problem I've had the least trouble with :g:
Hope adding it won't change things.

I think some leniencey is a good idea wrt swearing - a gentle prod seems to work, especially as a number of us dMw-ers including some rather more senior admins have been known to involuntarily utilise bad words to emphasize some point or another as an unfortunate habit that we are trying to break. Sometimes no-one notices:whistle:

Or foreigners like myself with a more lax attitude towards some words, which you guys take somewhat more seriously. I can easily think of a couple... :blush:

Late last night I banned 5 members of the same clan for very obscene language.

I was a bit "tired & emotional" and couldn't remember which ones were swearing(at least 3 IIRC) so I gave the lot a 30 min ban.

I don't mind the odd mild expletive on comms, but typing obscenities into chat without **'s is a ban.

Ehm, i think i might be a bit harsh there... Espessially towards ppl that dont play by the rules and uses foul language. I just bumb them of the server for 30 minutes almost regardless :blush2:

But im also in the possition with Del, I dont know which expressions and phrases are good or bad, 'spessially when i ban someone for saying "**** blabla" and one hr later a senior comes allong and goes like "blabla **** bla" (same stars), and im like.... :poster_oops:

Well, a 30 min ban is only 30 min. So you shouldn't worry too much. I think that if they do not even bother to read the rules they had it coming ...

don't go :poster_oops: ... slap the senior! Or at least used admin-only speak to remind them if they haven't already realised and apologised. Try to keep any admin-admonishment in the admin-only speak?

MOTD updated with Sadako's coding. Currently running images off sadakos server until we get them uploaded to our own website.

Edit: I've setup the files on my BY webserver as it should create less delay on the message (not a lot but some). Will get OB/TL to sort out files to dMw webspace.
