Raiding, days/time

we were aiming for a 2day raiding scheme, we now have to decide on the days and times we shall do that.
 
i had friday 7pm-11.30pm and sunday 4/5pm - 10pm in mind
 
what do you think? this should solve leaving raids because of work next day problem

most people can't attend earlier on sundays since it is often a time where you have dinner with family or similar things. Same with fridays, not very common around here in norway but it is common other places in europe to go out on fridays.

People having to leave early is almost never a problem, people might need to leave early sometimes but it is alot bigger problem getting the UK people to be back from job and be ready for raid start.

It does no good having this discussion here since even if we find days that fit our schedule perfect it might be completely off with the other raiders.
In general it is easier to get people to commit 2-3hours a evening 4times a week then 4-6hours twice a week.

But I don't think it should be expected of a raider to be available for longer then from 19:00-23:00 any day. That is 18:00 for the UK players so even if they finish 17:00 at work they should be able to be settled at home and it is midnight for the GMT+2 players and 4hours is more then enough for raiding and in some cases it is too much. Just as an example Sora only raids 3hours 4nights a week.

I think that we should put the discussion out publicly with Sunday and a weekday like thursday or tuesday with that timeframe and ask the people that want to raid when they are available and if they are available for a longer timeframe or not.

I would prefer Friday / Sunday 7.30-10.30 myself.

For myself, Friday, Monday and Tuesday is out of the question, as I have uw-rugby practice those days. But than again, as I wasn't planning on committing to raiding (yeah, I'm on the brink of changing my mind, but I'm trying to resist ), you shouldn't listen too much to me.

Other than that, I'm pretty much with Tenilia - early Sundays will be problematic, same with Friday evenings (remember that that were the day were we often had to cancel raids back in the old days). And other than that, starting around 19:00-19:30, ending at 23, should be doable.

I would go down the short & sweet route.  Keep it to 3 hours per raid.  Quality over quantity.  Much more than that and focus starts to go.  If you want ot extend an individual raid that is going real well then you can always do that on a raid by raid basis - when it's going well everyone wants to stay anyway!
