how much use is spell penetration?

I have been noticing that i have a few resists on bosses, not a lot but a few, was thinking of putting in a bit more spell penentation but the info i have found up till now is not saying that i can get a lot of advantage from penetration.

currently penetration is 25

Spell penetration is not what you want Sheepy, you need +hit.

USually you will nto see many full resists, but against a L73 mob (ie a boss) you have a base chance for you spell to hit of 83% (ie 17% of the time you will miss and get a full resist).  +hit gear mitigates this as can some talent choices.

Penetration simply assesses how much of a spell that hits is resisted (0/25/50/75 or 100%).  So if a target has 100FR against your fireball and you have 20 penetration then the tartget's FR is reduced so the chance of a partial resist is lessended slightly.

Against mobs 3 levels higher than you +hit gear rocks and its value should not be underestimated.  Remember, 1% hit means +1% dps in those circumstances and also remember that one of your crits could also miss (crit % includes the spells that missed totally).
