Some Modifications for consideration

Alright, so. Bk has told me i should post somthing regarding the MOTD and the server rules.

Whilst playing in the TCS server i have had admins confront me with rules that i neither new, or have READ anywhere (on MOTD and the Forum).

SO i thought id bring them to light and suggest that they are added to the MOTD. Because this way ABSOLUTLY no one will need to be notified of these (but obviously for those new comers who fail to read the MOTD and simply join and play however they wish to, regardless to how the other players react, they will have to be reminded to read the MOTD.)

So basically from what the admins have told me, i see these as being some Key rules which tie in with the gameplay and general experience of the Server.

1. Recently i was informed that my Spray was unnaceptable in the TCS Boomer Server. Basically the spray was that of an Attractive Female model. And yes, she wasnt FULLY clothed, but wasnt any explicit content there at all. and i havent had any complaints about it FROM ANYONE including admins until recently. Yes i understand that Minors might catch site of it ... and other s might think its alright to spray that... but lets look at the facts... MINORS (players  under the AGE RATING ON THE BOX OF THE GAME!) Should NOT EVEN BE PLAYING A GAME SUCH AS THIS. And how can an image such as what i described as earlier class as anything worse than the VIOLENCE in CS Source.

That being said, i  respect the admins and how they wish to run the server. and if a spray like that isnt somthing that they wish to see, then Roger that!

So here would be the rule (in my Words of course)

1. Whilst playing on the server please use a Reasonable Spray, Do NOT use any kind of spray that may enquire sexual themes Or explicit material. (and Perhaps show an example of the kind of spray, but within reason)

Moving on..

Before hand i was also slapped by an admin (to which i fell to my death :angry: without being told or warned... and yeah its just a slap.... but i still died!! :narnar:) telling me that i was not allowed to camp in a certian place.

Im sure your awear of the little Hiding Spot in Assault where you can jump onto an electrical Deco on the wall and then glitch onto the side of the roof area where the hostages are located: shown in the screenshot below:

Also, i think it should be made clear that This area in CS_ITALY is also out of Bounds, because i have mistakened it in the past for being a legit spot. Mainly because your not supposed to go into the apartments or down any stairs. And that sign says DONT GO IN THE APPARTMENT... (but if it also means not camping here, then lets make it A RULE )

Where there is a spot that is restricted for camping (basically because its a glitch or its just unfair) then shove this Sign on the wall !!!

This way its obvious that they shouldnt be there. but if they cant read it because their a complete idiot or dont speak the language... well they wont understand anything and should be kicked anyway for not speaking english.

If you decide to add this to the server and maps.. then you can add those logo's to the MOTD and explain the rule of them however you like.


Also, i have noticed that the no entry signs are a bit out of date, as far as the GFX is concerned. so i thought id help out with that

AND! i have even taken the liberty of creating the VTF files for you... so all you need to do is overwrite the files on the server with those in this ZIP FILE!!

Rules that i think should be added to the MOTD:

1. Whilst playing on the server please use a Reasonable Spray, Do NOT use any kind of spray that may enquire sexual themes or Explicit Material of any kind.. (and Perhaps show an example of the kind of spray, but within reason)

2. There is a fair code of conduct on this TCS Server so please read the folowing:

DO NOT CAMP where the No camping signs are located, as the admins have tagged these areas as an unfair advantage or an unclear Out of Bounds area.

Do not Spam the Chat or Voice chat, players Use the voice chat to tactically perform their duties as a team on this TCS server so please refrain from Over using the Chat for banter. Using the Voice chat is fine for non tactical chat, AS LONG AS PLAYERS CAN STILL CONCENTRATE AND HEAR TACTICAL INPUT FROM OTHER PLAYERS!

No Swearing! And this includes Abreviations such as W.T.F, GTFO and the insult  such as n00b, because these can be offensive to some and Noob calling can be very disrespectful to other players. And it neglects the image of dMw being a kind and thoughtful Community.

I thought id add those rules in my own words, because i am told i can explain things like that quite well but you may modify them however you like.

I feel that these measures will improve the server, if only a little BUT STILL AN IMPROVEMENT .

and just to be clear im not trying to be a smart ass, lol, i just think this will help make every thing clear.

3)Better watch out with Mods or own models. Who knows they might end up conciderd cheats/hacks by Valve.
4)The spot on Italy, the MOTD says that you arn't allowed beyond the points marked. When you're up there, you're OOB. Simple. Also, how can you guard hostages all the way up there? You don't know if they have been taken there and you can't respond quickly for any call for backup.
5)I do like the CT and T entry signs you made
 
Not all things can be added to the MOTD. Somethings are posted on the forums on how to behave and you can allways ask admins if you're unsure about how/what. Glitching or using mapflaws is a big NO.
-=[dMw]=-'ers allways respect fellow players. The thing you have to think off is; Is this TCS? Would another -=[dMw]=-'er use or do this? If the answer is no then you have your answer allready.
 
People do read the MOTD but usually not when they first join the server, only when they are pointed towards it after an offence. If the MOTD is to large, people wont read it and leave.
 
You've made good suggestions/tips but most things have been thought off allready quit a bit by Whitey and Sadako and as an admin I know that they are on a new track considering -=[dMw]=- and adminning and various other stuff.
 
This is all from my point of view and I know fellow admins will respond also probably very quickly (if not allready done).

i dont mean to contridict you there, but camping there in the past (on other servers) you can hear and see the hostages being taken from the room, mainly because it is right below you and they can either go straight beneath you or to the upstairs door, which in that first person screen you can see that it is just about visible, and you cant shoot there... which is clearly an error with the game.

On italy, being OOB - always think of the no-entry sign as going all the way up, regardless of floor. So, being on the roof, you've moved past the sign and is OOB.

Nice decals with the text as well, good idea.

My point 4) I ment Italy all the way btw, not assault. From that roof spot @ Italy you can hardly give decend backup or defend the hostages
 
That Assault spot is just way off limits as you can see through a complete roof, you have to glitch get there so it means you're using a mapflaw (although I didn't knew this spot myself but then again in CSS I still don't know most spots yet).
On previous versions of Assault around that same spot there was a spot where you could bump people upon the roof. We got to know this from a clanserver we used to play sometimes and things like this happend alot. At -=[dMw]=- we have never used spots like that to get an unfair advantacepoint.

• As mentioned earlier. The MOTD could become very long and we have tried to keep it short and simple. Sure it could be added a line or two about "sprays containing offensive material (racist, sexist etc) is not allowed). We are currently discussing this in the admin section and we will see what it boils down to.
• TBH I don't think this is needed. We have the no entry signs and it should be enough. Sure we can add a no entry sign on the balcony on Italy but as Delan pointed out: The no entry sign already covers it. If you are on the balcony then you are beyond the entry sign. Regarding Assault it is a case of a map flaw. Using map flaws are never allowed but sure this could also be added as a line in the MOTD. Same goes for defusing through the floor on Train. This is NOT allowed.
• Spamming VC or chat is not allowed and I think it is not necessary to enter this into the MOTD. It is a question of acting properly and respecting your fellow players (which is in the MOTD).
• Swearing is swearing. In any shape or form. Everyone still knows what STFU means eventhough you don't write it. It is in the MOTD. Calling someone a n00b is disrespectful and not allowed and it is in the MOTD.
• The No Entry signs are nice. We will have a look at them.

Yeah glitches aren't allowed, and on Italy that spot is past the sign.
But back to your point, I think that the rule about shouting n00b is ok...but you might want to put is punishable by death....we know where you live. Just to scare them into obeying a little more.

I'll have a look at implementing the new signs as part of the new plugin release we're working on.  This will also take care of the n00b  issue by giving automated warnings when bad/disrespectful words are used.
