You have been selected for admin school. If you choose to accept, training will take place on Boomer where two CS admins will take it in turns to give advice and see how you respond to events during normal play. The sessions with each CS admin will last approximately 45 minutes and depending on your ability will consist of between two and four sessions.
 
Please let us know as soon as possible if you choose to participate or not.

Welcome onboard,
 
The admin school will be conducted as follows. You will have two coaches (cs admins) that will guide and evaluate you on the servers. Your coaches will be in contact with you shortly regarding the training.
 
You should install Ventrilo as soon as possible as this will be used during the training.
You should also learn the Admin standards prior to training.
 
On the servers you will be using Source Mod. Here you can find a mindmap of the_menu. Print it out or keep it open in a browser window during training until you feel comfortable finding the keys. Bind a key for source mod menu e.g.

or access by typing "/admin" into chat.

Please bear in mind that the only server currently with SourceMod is Baldric and that getting it working there necessitated blitzing the server and downloading a new server package. This is because mani doesn't seem to like being uninstalled.

Can Baldric be copied to Meathook/Boomer now that it's setup correctly?

I know BB. I just think we need to be prepared as we are getting closer to admin school. There is lots of work still to be done both here and on the servers. Better to use the time available rather than rushing it later.

I'd like to say yes but you know what happened when we tried to copy your server configs to Baldric. TBH these servers have been running for so long it probably would be a good thing if we blitzed them and started again - a bit of spring cleaning if you will, delete all the maps we tried and never used and have standard maps plus the deadmen mappacks

However, I think both me and Whitey are "ready" as we have used it before. We could start the admin training if some feel that a few extra weeks are needed. We cannot admin train everyone at the same time anyways. Just a thought.

Sounds good to me.  We can always use Baldric as the private server while Meathook gets done and then use Baldric as the public server while Boomer gets done.

Because you can use three way conversation and it is crystal clear within CSS. TS2 and Ventrilo fails as some have bad VC in respective program (e.g. squonk in TS2). MSN can only do 2 people conversations but the sound is very good.

CSS sound is now perfectly clear too and avoids having an additional POS on your PC.  It does everything you want for less hassle, less cost and meets KISS criteria.

We're using Skype so the three people involved in the training (the pupil and the two admins) can talk to each other at all times,  dead or alive, on the server or on HLSW.

Ok, I understand some fo that, but we have Vent servers runnign too that aare already available.  Just wondering why existing stuff is not being used instead of registering, installing, scratchin your nuts stuff?  Not trying to difficult, just asking.  Someone clearly likes Skype.  Maybe it's because I do not use Skype.

Tbh I had no idea there was a ventrilo server available. I know that there was a TS2 one. Ventrilo works fine for me but I think the quality in both MSN and Skype actually are superior.
 
The whole point of it was to have a private channel for the admin and trainee during the training. The format of the technology was and is of less importance.
