Hey i was cruising the front page of dMw and i saw this piece of info which im sure is a very good tactic, but i have yet to see this, so if any u guys wanna try this tactic out on MeatHook @ weekend i would like to see,

The Wear Down Tactic
This tactic is sometimes used on the servers but not as often as it should be. Usually it is employed when there is only 1 player left on the attacking team, but the opportunity exists for it to be used when the whole team is still alive. So what does this strategy mean?

Attack at one spot. Inflict damage, draw attention,
it is not necessary to get a kill.

Retreat and regroup.

Take a new position.

Repeat.

This tactic can be highly effective as it keeps the enemy guessing where you will eventually try to push through your final attack. It also suits the round time that we use on the community servers as you have 5 minutes to complete your objective.

This tactic is very effective on de maps for Ts. It will make the CTs uncertain if they are not well organised. They will not know the difference between a distraction or misdirection and a real plant attempt.

Wearing down the enemy will force them to call for backup and soon their defences will start to show some weaknesses and holes. This is one example that demonstrates that rushing is not always the best idea!

I use this this a lot. I wear the enemy down until they run out of bullets and then i let them knife me in the head :(

I've been trying to get people away from the
rush a
rush b
rush a
rush a

mentality for a few weeks now. I call some stupid plans, and some more serious ones. I strongly favour the go one way, drag 'em across, go the other.

The hard thing to get people to do is 'STOP'. Example on train, go long A wait for a while then go as a group. Invariably someone will run, someone will spray and someone will stick their head out to try to get a cheap kill. If you wait, out of sight and quietly the CT tends to get nervous and moving back and forwards.

IMHO it's human nature on the server if you are sat defending and nothing happens for you to move to another spot. It's very difficult to sit in one place for 3 minutes, waiting for a rush that might not come, people start looking round corners. So, with that in mind you can get some cheap kills of the nosey gits - IF - you can keep the noisy nosey gits on your side quiet.

 You and never have seen that tactic, i would say open your eyes when you play.

Well im sorry that i play with my eyes closed and i havent seen that tactic used as u say "very much", i see alot of rushing and delayed rushing and the odd "one guy make a distratcion". and as DuVeL said he calls it "Pick em off" which is not the same tactic, i simply said i havent seen THAT tactic and would like to see it in action, not ones that are similar, so there is no need to be rude about it Ice Hawk

I use quite often (why shouldn't I as I wrote it :norty:) but I think it becomes more difficult as teamplay have evolved the last 6 years. On some maps it works better than others. Still, as Benny pointed out it is difficult to break the pattern but once you do it becomes really interesting.

I think a while ago I made a post suggesting that, when a few people were free that a "Tactical CS night" could be held to go over possible strategies for different maps. Entry/exit methods for buildings to rescue hostages/getting to bombsites.

Securing locations, by placing your'e team in specific points that give you an overall advantage of the area. Methods of moving around the map in groups, with different formations perhaps? This is all difficult stuff to do on public servers, and would take a great deal of co-operation.

I am still willing to perhaps to a test - run of this and see if it works at all, and ultimately to test the length at which team work will go in a game like Counter Strike. People did show an interest last time, however nothing was really done. We would probably need about 8 people minimum for a good 4 v 4 session on somewhere like Meathook with non-custom maps, so just normal Boomer rotation.

If anybody is interested let me know and we can perhaps have a "testing session" of this and see if it works well.

It is a good tactic, but one that can not always be applied for several reasons. The most important bit is to know the enemy defense well enough. If they have a solid line of defense, the whole "wear 'em out" or whatever it's called can quickly turn into "while trying to pick them off, half our team got killed and the other half is heavily wounded". There's always a certain number of things to be considered before calling a tactic, while results may vary.

Was it you who had the terrorist team do a one-person-every-ten-seconds rush on de_nightfever a couple of nights back? That was pretty awesome and the fact that it actually worked (at least the first time) makes it even more impressive.

:blush2:
maybe.

I'm working on a new 'tower of power' tactic. Also waiting for museum to come back so I can reinstate 'death from above' as the tactic of choice.

But nothing can beat the tactics from last Friday.

Send one man every 10 seconds in the same direction.

It actually worked , we won the round.

Luckily the next tactic of sending two at a time to the other bomb site every 10 seconds redressed the balance and we were all wiped out in a 5 metre square.

Afterwards we all tried to climb back into our seats after falling out laughing.

Squ0nk and Benny have been making up some rather unique tactics lately.

I just wait for Squ0nks tones over VC's .....

"Lads, right, I've got an idea, no this is a good one, listen ......."

hmm interesting

im willing to try anything (game wise other idea's keep em to yourselves :norty:)  let us know if this goes ahead and ill give it a go...

after all this is a tactical couter strike community hence why it drew my attention (other than lib telling me) and if i didnt like i would not have signed to the forums or hung around like a bad smell (which reminds me take shower)
Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs?

Should have typed a bit more. If I say; pick them off, usually you end up in a bombspot which is hardly guarded as the opponent had to reposition.

Try the tower of power Benny...Even in the last tournament Squonk I believe tryed it...Also the T's once on office...1 flash and they were gone.

Unless my memory is failing like Squonks sexual advances, I was there for the birth of the tower and heavily involved.

It was a Jas era manoveure (sp), can't remember who coined the phrase though. The ToP is so yesterday, wait for my adapted version....
