Beowulf and Grethel. Gretchen?? I reckon it is a sequel?

Just saw this film. Apart from the nice scenery, possibly Icelandic, what a piece of crap. My rating system has for years been as follows:

1/10 is reserved for one specific exceptionally bad film

2/10 for movies that are seriously incoherent such as forgetting actors (think Master Ninja where they "forgot" Demi Moore) or Manos the Hands of Fate (funny how people change places - during dialogue!)

3/10 for the film which just barely present a plot but otherwise quite happily disregard it and

4/10, here Beowulf, a movie which does manage to present a plot, but somewhat ignore it, or lack common sense in movie making. I mean, an attempt to make a most compassionate moment out of a women explaining how she got taken by a troll doggie style for all 10 seconds. She looked so.. well, compassionate after the "love making", or whatever you would call that grunting.

Me and the gf saved it however by providing our own dialogue and classical opera theme music, which kinda saved the time from being completely wasted. Well, she did get more out of it than me because she slept through part of it.

Sheesh what a piece of crap!

You can add three points if you get to see it in 3D. The 3D on a big screen is a whole other film. :D

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Nefertem

The Beowulf & Grendel movie you linked to is an icelandic movie from 2005 as far as I can see :g:

Haven't seen the CGI one yet, just some of the beginning in poor quality, and from what I saw and Delan said, Im fairly certain I got no interrest in seeing the rest of the movie :eyebrow:

Yup I'm referring to that other one.

Bastet

Beowulf isnt too bad, but its let down by some too obviously fake full CG shots. shame.
Aszune (Alliance):

Dr Sadako

The only reason to watch it is to see Angelina Jolie emerge from the water. The rest is utter crap.

Can't argue with that. The story is pretty shallow and without the CGI it would be very uninteresting. Being Arty Farty though the 3D CGI did impress me. I wonder how long before we don't need paid actors at all.

ChimpBoy

My favourite bit was discovering that Beowulf actually heralds from West Ham.

Hearing the line "I am hear to kill your monster" with the kind of accent last heard in The Long Good Friday kind of killed the Nordic-ness of the whole thing
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

Lol yeah that as well. The movie is a strange mess of accents.

I also thought it to be hilarious that Denmark are portrayed as having mountains ... :roflmao:

We swedes always makes fun of the large number of sold mountain bikes in Denmark.
