I've got it installed and tweaked slightly to look more like a CS game ladder than a squash one.  If the team captains sign up for the site with a valid email address, the challenges and reminders are sent via email.  I think it could work but would be worth getting a few people to sign up and test it out.

I'll leave my server running this evening if you want to have a look/sign up/test.
