Never knew the place existed when i made this character. Been to Scheveningen 6 or 7 months ago and passed this restaurant as well. Had a nice laugh myself too.

That was my first intuition as well, and was what I wanted to write down at first; but actually its meaning looks to be slightly ambiguous (as usually with words in natural languages).
 
For example you say: "Ik ga even een peukie roken" ("I'm gonna smoke a sigaret").
And: "Een asbak vol met peuken" ("An ashtray full of sigaret butts").
 
A 'peukie' is what you smoke, the 'peuk' is what's left over; to be really exact :flirty: .
 
'Peukie' looks more like a slang word that got generally accepted at some point if you ask me :g: . The proper Dutch translation for the English word 'sigaret' would be 'sigaret'.
