no console

i got tf2 today and can't bring up the console, in the key bindings page it is under ` but nothing happens when pressed. any ideas?
 
also can you play against the pc without going on a server and getting called a noob by a load of 10 year olds?

I believe under advanced options you should be able to sort the console thing (` or ~).
I've allready asked a question if it's possible to put up bots on the dMw-server so we can have a shot against them.
I did try a few kits and such on the server when no-one was on...

If like CS - in advanced settings be sure enable developer console (as suggested by Mr. D) If that does not do the trick add "-console" to the steam startup settings for the game. If that does not work either, check that your bind is correct - usually ` on a US/English keyboard layout me thinks...

ah yes i knew it would be something simple.thanks guys!:)  How about a command for fps and ping?

Mhhmmzzz, same as in CSS I reckon. Not sure what the command was for that...Will have a browse on that lateron...
