Wow, how pants are these cars. Like driving on ice, with a car with flat tyres.

No fun at all.

Tried the same track with MRT's, FOX, FO8, and the LX's and it is SO much better.

Sigh!

To top it off, took the TVR to be serviced today, and the coutest car is a fiesta!! so not only do I have to drive a crap FWD car in LFS, I have to drive one in real life..

No way you can compare the slick mounted race cars with xfg (well lx is not slicks mounted but half breed race car anyway). Fox especially is not a very difficult car to drive.

My guess is that your set sucks (or your driving :norty: ). With set you can make xfg handle almost like a rwd car (i.e. oversteer). Quick way to do that is by putting normal street tyres at back and increase pressure. If that doesn't make it handle crap, put brake balance more back.

I have currently bit problems that before the tyres warm up it handles bit unpredictably (especially in wind).

I am expecting good even racing with this car.

EDIT: If the car feel slippy in speeds in which it should still have grip (note that this car does NOT have slicks), try reduce tyre pressure. In corners, bad grip could be because of many things (tyre pressure, camber, suspension, arbs, toe in,...) ....or like Iron said...try less speed :)

Iron

To me, driving any car on the limit, regardless of its speed and grip, is tremendous fun. Not to mention racing with it.

Hint: If you feel you are driving on ice, you are over the limit. ;)

Why not? I'm not comparing speeds, I'm comparing enjoyment of LFS.

You said XFG is like 'on ice'. Sure you can get whole lot more grip with slicks and some of those car you mentioned have even wings. I thought you were talking about grip (and downforce?).

About fun...that's personal taste and opinion. I like 'tintops' more.

I think Alt is thinking a bit like me - coming from the other car the other night into this 6 HP (whoever said that, was funny) barge. No matter how you set is up it handles like a boat sailing in gelly comparatively.

That said, I do find it fun to drive, especially because it give you some time to work with it, when on the edge. The other better cars you drive to the limit - or flip them :D

It's all about 'Challenge' That's the whole idea behind changing tracks and cars every week. After a few days everyone starts getting comfortable in the new cars. Then Friday comes and 'Bloody hell! This car's crap!', for a couple of days till you get comfy with that one. Rise to the challenge, I know you're all man enough. :flirty:

:D

I, along with Vobler had concerns about making it to the end of this race. Unfounded as it happens. Apart from a false start caused by a plonked who left his car on the grid, it was, for me anyway a fairly uneventful race. I simply ground out the laps and only made a few mistakes because I was dropping off! Hitting the wall on lap 17-18ish when you've made that corner with no previous problems certainly wakes you up!
Only the first 4 lapped me! An achievement in itself. :flirty:

Was quite a good race, except when I tagged Lameduck due to his random braking in mid-corner and me not noticing the brake-lights. I waited for him to get back on-track and come past, meaning I was right at the back of the pack and we were a 1/2 lap behind.

Still, from then on it was just a grind to get through all the laps, had some fun with Trinidex, and that's about it.. still, at least I made it to the finish this time ;)

Lameduck

Some of us use brakes (but not randomly)to adjust our speed and expect those behind to adjust their speed accordingly. In this instance I did not use my brakes, as, by oversteering, I had scubbed too much speed off.
 'ner mind ey? :narnar:

The first part wasn't so interesting. Managed to pull a smallish gap to others. The gap was big enough that I didn't see anybody behind me. Maybe this made it bit boring and hard to concentrate.

So in lap 12 (?) I closed a car ahead of me in T1. I looked what he was going to do and he gave away room nicely by going to the inside (right) at the bridge. Maybe I should have concentrated more on my car than the other car as I drifted too much left and hit the bridge wall so that it jumped in the air and the front left suspension was toasted.

At this point I was quite stunned. I couldn't believe that so stupid accident was going to ruin my race. I limped rest of the lap to the pit. I have no idea how much time I lost there, but it felt like forever. My car was hard to keep on the track with the broken suspension and I went all around the grass areas. Iron managed to drive past me.

The damage wasn't the only problem. Because of the early pit stop I had dropped down to 5th place after it. The race lead was around half a lap ahead and knowing that I would need to pass several cars it would be a miracle to get even to podium.

At this point I was angry, frustrated and dissapointed. I had waited the long race sooo much. This was for a while a combo where I woundn't need to get handicapped so much because of mouse. Especially when in the last combo I had flipped, I wanted a clean accident free race. But it didn't happen and the Lord blessed me with yet another lemon.

I can't remember much of the latter part, except lot of mixed feelings was going through my mind and lack of concentration on driving. I started to hit the stone wall on almost every lap, when I had needed clean fast laps to chase others.

The only good part was maybe when I had to fight a way past Vobler. It was good racing, but again lost time when few laps went for it.

In the end I was amazed to see being 2nd and 'only' 10 secs behind the winner. Actually it just made me think lot of 'ifs' like what if I had got damaged in the last part of track, later in race or what if I hadn't been behind Vobler so long...

I would like to forget this as soon as possible, but I have to watch it several times again in the replay as I promised the manuscript for the video

I did my mistake early in the race, lap 2 or 3, kinda like Aquilifer, I was too busy watching Stoney behind me, although he was not yet in shooting range, so I turned in late for the finish straight chicane, which majorly upset my car, and resulted in a meeting with the wall.

So Stoney passed me, almost Vobler too. Several laps later I was able to repass Stoney, then Aquilifer did that mistake, so I took the lead. From there on, nothing much happened. It's a shame, would've been interesting to see how we battle it out, if I had ever caught up to him.

I was happy for my PB, it came as if I had ordered it, just like in every other race towards the finish.

Congrats to everyone!
