We've been getting quite a few periods of high pings this week. The ping goes up for most people and we also get some lag with it.  I'll look at getting pingplotter installed to get something more solid to go on.  Unfortunately one of the worst spells was during tonights match on Baldric.

I seem to be having a ping problem the past week or so too, i don't think it's just server specific though.

Thanks for bringing this up Whitey. There seems to be a problem with pings on the server but it hasn't seemed to affect mh or boomer. Could this be due to the map on their at the moment or another issue? I suppose if pingplots come back clean then could this be a possibility.

Ok i did a couple of pingplots from home and i am getting intermittent high pings or ERR being displayed to a few on my route. The entanet and telehouse ones (15-18 on kreg's list) seem to be having intermittent problems. Any ideas?

It's not the map and it's not just Baldric, it's also happening on MH and Boomer (they are all on the same physical server).  We just caught it during a really bad spell on Baldric yesterday.  It seems to be worse when we have a large number of people on the servers.
What bandwidth do we have available?

Gandalf

100Mb/s feed to the servers so it's not going to be bandwidth.

I was on for a while on friday (at least until CS crashed) and it was silky smooth all evening. This was with a full server too. One thing I did notice however is that I was on MH first and my ping was 15-20ms. When I swapped to the other server (boomer I think) my ping was 45-50ms. So there is something odd at play there. The connection was fine, just one server reporting higher ping times.

There is loads of bandwidth available.

There must be something else going on.

I will check in to it today.

When I played on MH Friday my ping was at times between 90-110. Most of the time it was around 55 in comparison to my usual 32.

As I mentioned in relation to the tournament. I had serious lag problems then as well.

I think you said you use the same host as the servers, so it could be an issue once it leaves?  :g:

I had a look at the server configs on Friday and couldn't see any difference to account for the change in ping from one server to the other.
Could anyone experiencing problems please provide us with some traceroute or pingplotter output (cs.deadmen.co.uk) while you are having the issue.

Your probs start on hop 2 - you are getting 31% packet loss from there onwards. You have an ISP problem.
