Guys.. Serious question.

Have any of you ever heard of a job title of: Director (or Head) of People and Profits ?

If you have, can you tell me which company so I can research it?

If you haven't, in your opinion what would such a person do? What part of the organisation would they reside (eg: Facilities)?

I'm in the middle of a debate with my CEO on this one and would appreciate your response.

a grandiose alternative to the more standard title of director of HR.

In the company I write for (some 6,000 people worldwide, global leader in enzymes) they call HR for P&O which stands for people and organisation. I have interviewed a head of P&O once.

However, mixed with financials, no. I think a separation here is only natural, otherwise people know the same boss is the one responsible for profit, i.e. cut backs in people and resources available to people. Talk about distrust.

If it's got "people" in the title I would say it's Human Resources based. Every now and again people like to spruce up their job titles a little bit. Bin Men -> Refuse Collectors etc. Human Resources sounds very 80's, time for a change.

If you happen to have a guy doing heading one area, and now being promoted to head of both areas (not recommended) I would reshuffle some references and make him head of something third and two other people head of HR and Finance. These two could then be referencing to him.

Try this Q on linkedin mate, sure to give good answers.

Makes me think small company with a couple of directors, finance often bedshares with HR under one director.

It's like job upscaling. I've a peewee job yet I want my business cards to sound really impressive, until they see the office is a box room in a council flat.
Will strip for badges
