Hiya guys, I was wondering if any of you tech guys could give me a hand?

I have two 64mb sticks of pc100Mhz RAM installed on a soltek SL 75KAV mobo and I want to upgrade this by adding a further 128mb stick into the thrid slot.

My question is this:  Is it worth buying PC133Mhz RAM or will it all just run at the slower speed?  Also, is it possible to combine 2x64mb + 1x128mb or does it have to be 2x128mb?

depends on the motherboard as to whether you can mix different sizes, most can. Chuck it in and try, if it doesn't work, it won't post the correct amount of memory on startup. Some motherboards will even tell you that there is a memory incompatability.

As for speed, it shouldn't be a problem as the 133 will just run at 100.

Certain motherboards allow you to increase the memory clock speed +33% (or decrease it -33%) This is only useful if you have a proc running at 100mhz and your memory is 133mhz ( or a proc at 133mhz and you only have 100mhz ram)

Cant see any probs meself, i got  a 75KAV too (stable as owt) and i got all sorts of memory in there that ive accumulated over years, 1x64 66mhz, 1x 64 100mhz, 1x 128 133Mhz.  Strangely enough i can run the lot at 100 Mhz no probs.

If you mix the speeds, all three sticks will run at the speed of the slowest stick.
