Dr Sadako

Any feedback on what was good/bad with the old one would be good if you posted here as well.

I have talked to Whitey and Penfold about a new ladder and here are some ideas:

  • Keep the ladder format that we already have.
  • Keep the ladder format we have but with fixed days for matches e.g. Friday/Sunday.
  • Create a league instead. I think Pen(?) found a homepage that supports most of the features needed. The idea is that every round counts and are added up. This way every team plays each other at least once. Setting match days to e.g. Friday and Sunday is one way to make it work. We should restrict the league to a 2-4 maps or the home team selects map from a predefined list.
  • Create a 2v2 ladder/league with smaller maps.
  • Create a 6v6 (or 5v5) ladder/league. One problem I see with that is to get enough player at the same time. Also it could steal players from Boomer/MH.
  • Weapon specific maps. Playing e.g. dust2 with only Pistol for both teams. This will have a large impact on tactics and I think it could also improve weapons skill in general as you are forced to use a weapon that you might not usually use.
Any more ideas/thoughts?

The new league/ladder wouldn't start until at the earliest after the LAN.

I heard someone say that they thought the best thing about the ladder was the admin.

Does that help?

I think the ladder was a good start. I like the idea of the league and I'm sure we'll discuss in more detail in a drunken stupor at the LAN.

I'd like a league, but anyone can challenge anyone. Doesn't matter on points, just played / won / lost.

Challenges open to all, arranged whenever you want. You'll end up with a win percentage.

Add in fixed weapons and a good smattering of maps. Then also add reporting showing kill rates with weapons and 'stat' the life out of it.

That way when I'm jabbering on about how good I am, someone can point out that Doc carried the team whilst we killed one person between us.

Ladder with fixed weapon matches sounds like a nice idea :)
