need help

decided to reinstall bf2,to join in the monday night fun,but every time i start the game it keeps minimizing back to desktop,anyone know how i can fix this please,all help much appreciated

BF2 is such a pile of pants

You may end up having to reinstall and repatch but before that ensure that your monitor can run in 800x600 at 60Hz as that is what BF2 needs to have to start up the first time. Your monitor may be defaulting to 800*600 @ 75Hz or even 80Hz which will cause a crash.

Aye be sure that the settings are set to 800x600@60Hz

I am trying to find the file to edit in...

Edit: Hm, that depends on how your profiles are setup. To be sure try and run the BF2.exe with the size added, i.e. like this:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 800 +szy 600

If that does not work, then you need to find the file video.con (here the tricky part, be sure to find the one the game uses) and add/change

"VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz"

F@H running? Close it down!!!
F@H doesn't work in either BF2 and CoD4 but does work with CSS and other Steam games (unless you have CoD4 through Steam).

Thought that was the problem as I have the same thing when F@H runs.
Just remember to put it on again after the games. :flirty:
