BF2 Weapon Unlocks

I asked Gmjr about this earlier but I think I misunderstood. I'm just wondering if I have to buy the SF expansion in order to unlock the second variation of weapons; i.e. Support - MG36, Medic - G36E, I made SGT a few hours ago and seeing as I already have the L85A1 and the PKM I wanted to unlock one of their other counterparts but didn't have the option to.

If I don't, what rank do I have to reach to get these weapons?

You need SF for the other unlocks yeah, I think SF can get bought from the discounttable allready for a few pounds.

Is there anyone else who wants to rank a bit in BF2 then give a shout.
I'm in to BF2 lately aswell again and enjoy the rankingpart of the game.
 
@ Exodus, if you really want to rank up faster, join a map like Jalalabad, IO-servers, and go resupply or medic. I enjoy playing both sides on this map and usually make a squad on US to flank and capture flags.

IIRC, on the next promotion after installing the ability to unlock was available and was retroactive...

Ok thanks will do, I don't really see the logic in being able to pick up the weapons off dead TM's but in order to spawn with them you need to buy an expansion.

Yup, why else would EA make that many expensions for 1 game.
But if you do a search at your locoal gameshop you'll see that the game got alot cheaper.
 
They tryed the same for BF2142 but got loads of complaints.
That's one of the reasons the next BF-version will be free.

I did a couple of things today, but I'm not sure why these stats havn't been picked up by BF2S. First is the "Veterans Engineer Combat Badge", It says that IAR I must get 20 kills with the engineer kit as part of the process to getting the badge, this I did on a Karkand server. However other ribbons that I got at the same time (which can be confirmed on the stats page) are shown, whereas there is no green tick next to the 20 kills?

This is the same for the "Good Conduct Ribbon", I got the first part of the requirement (I did make sure) but the 14 kills and no team damage whatsoever havn't been ticked off next to the stats?

Its not a problem of the stats page refreshing.

Any ideas?

Sometimes it takes a bit for them to show up in both BF2 and on BF2s..
Also the page at bf2s needs another F5 before it works.
