Olympic hostesses had to strip naked so their body proportions could be carefully measured by judges.                              
                           
It's a tough job measuring people,  but I would have done it for a small fee

For London 2012 the standards aren't so demanding.

1. 20 digits, no preference as to displacement.
2. Eyes, two, anywhere on the face.
3. Stand upright for at least 5 minutes without aid.
4. Speak English (Cockney not allowed)
5. Speak a second language (Cockney is allowed)

Apparently point 4 is the one that is causing the most problems.
