Problems with patch DL?

Me and som other guys had some problems getting past 95% on Blizzards Background Downloader, but got it sorted now, and thought I might aswell post here aswell if anyone here got the same problems..

Click on WoW launcher.
Go to options.
Make sure the box that says "Don't throttle background download" is checked.

And if that doesn't work I found this thread on the official forum (its a tad long - I basicly just followed the first 3 steps - I used Azureus Vuze):

UPDATE FOR BLIZZARD: According to one poster in this thread (Stipruole) the problem is that the Blizzard HTTP Direct Download is seeding data intended for MACs instead of PCs. Also, the corrupted "piece" that people are reporting is normally #6161. If you could confirm and rectify this, it might be a quick fix.
UPDATE FOR EVERYONE ELSE: Please read the very last part of this post if none of the following works.

OK, here's a temporary workaround for everyone having problems downloading the last 5% of the next patch.

1. Download another BitTorrent client of choice (uTorrent for me - http://www.utorrent.com).

2. Install it, set it up to your liking, etc.

3. Go to your WoW Folder (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) and open up the Cache folder. Inside should be a BackgroundDownloader torrent file. Open this with your torrent program.

4. When it asks you what parts to download, choose ONLY the wow-partial-2.MPQ file, as that's the last 5% that no-one can get.

5. Make sure you choose to save the file in the correct location (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Updates\WoW-3.0.1-to-3.0.2-Update).

6. Sit back and watch the files download at about 200Kb/s (might take a little while for it to get up to speed - be patient!).

When you've finished downloading the files using the Torrent program, you might find that it's created a new set of folders instead of downloading to exactly the right location. Just cut the "wow-partial-2.MPQ" file and paste it into the correct folder (as noted in step 5) and then delete "wow-partial-2.MPQ.part". Not everyone will have this issue, but just for those who do.

7. When it's finished, launch the Blizzard Background Downloader and let it verify the contents of the entire download - it should confirm that the last 5% is just fine.

Note: If you want the files to get checked faster, go to View, Preferences, and tick the "Don't throttle background download" option, then restart the Background Downloader. Your files will check much faster, but your system might slow down a bit.

That's it - you're done! You can help others who can't / won't do this by keeping the background downloader open so they can get the un-corrupted files from you (and anyone else who does this).

NOTE: For those of you running Vista, the files will be found in the "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\" folder (the Cache and Updates folder should be present there).

EDIT - Some users are having issues where the downloader closes/crashes randomly, sometimes with an error message, when the downloader reaches 95% or 99%. It seems as though this happens to Vista users more often than XP. Try running the downloader in compatibility mode for Windows XP if this happens to you. To do this, right-click the Background Downloader icon in the WoW folder, go to Properties, then to the compatibility tab. Choose Windows XP from the list.

EDIT 2 - IMPORTANT POINTS

- Make sure you stop sharing your torrent file after it has downloaded, or alternatively close the Torrent program altogether. Files still being shared are still "in use" and could cause programs with the Blizzard Background Downloader recognising the last 0.1%.

- Make sure the file you downloaded (wow-partial-2.MPQ) is moved to the correct location.
For XP: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Updates\WoW-3.0.1-to-3.0.2-Update
For Vista: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\Updates\WoW-3.0.1-to-3.0.2-Update

There should be a file called "wow-partial-1.MPQ" in the same folder - if it's not there, then you've not moved it to the correct place.

- Make sure you delete the old file (wow-partial-2.MPQ.part) - please note the .part!

EDIT 3 - If you are having a problem with the download reaching 99% but still failing


Please check if there's a problem with the data you've downloaded by comparing the md5 hashes.

For those who don't know what this is, it's basically a string of numbers and letters created by a particular file. No other file in the world will create the same md5 hash, so if the one you get for your "wow-partial-2.MPQ" file is the same as what I get, then we know there's no problem.

To get a freeware md5 checker, go here: http://www.nullriver.com/products/winmd5sum

Download WinMD5Sum, install, and run it. Click the three dots next to file name and then browse until you find your "wow-partial-2.MPQ" file and open it.

Next, copy the following md5 into the "Compare" field: 57179fc4197b804217cc022379dfb784

Click "Compare".

If the two hashes are not the same, please try to download the file again, making sure to delete the "wow-partial-2.MPQ" you've already got.

EDIT 4 - DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINKS - For those having the 99% issue and who have a "wow-partial-2.MPQ" that has a different md5 hash than the one listed, here is a direct download link to my own, which is confirmed as 100% working, in every respect.

EDIT 5 - Some people are having a problem with the Background Downloader saying "Data for the next patch is not available" once they've downloaded the torrent or the direct download. This can be solved by restarting your computer.

EDIT 6 - IF ALL ELSE FAILS

If you've reached 99% and you just can't get to 100%, no matter what you do, and you've followed all of the above steps to the letter, then the helpful posters of this thread have found another solution to try. Please do the following EXACTLY.

- Open your torrent program, right click the "Updates" torrent you previously downloaded and select "Remove".

- Make sure that the folder containing "wow-partial-1.MPQ" and "wow-partial-2.MPQ" have nothing else in it.

- Open the BackgroundDownload.torrent file again. It can be found:
For XP: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache
For Vista: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\Cache

- This time, leave EVERYTHING TICKED, and (most importantly) change the download location to the following:
For XP: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\
(FOR SOME, IT MAY BE C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Updates)
For Vista: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\
(FOR SOME, IT MAY BE C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\Updates)

You will know if you've got the correct folder if the torrent jumps to 99.9%. If it doesn't work with the first folder, try the second one (i.e. ...\Updates)

- Wait for the download to verify the contents you already have, and it will then get the last 1% for you.

- Lastly, close down uTorrent and open up the Blizzard Background Downloader. You should now get all the way to 100% with no problems.

NOTE: Some Vista users may encounter a problem where their "wow-partial-2.MPQ" and/or their "wow-partial-1.MPQ" files still have the ".part" extension, thus stopping them getting 100%. The solution to this is simply to rename these files, removing the ".part" extension. Please ONLY do this if you've reached the end of this process and ONLY if you are running Vista.

This is going by the premise that the faulty "1%" is somewhere between the two partial files, not at the end of the second one. Hopefully this will work for everyone.

Yeah I'm jamming around 95% but all in last big patches I have had problems like that, feels like blizzard ain't letting me to dl all the stuff at once, and always it has finnished before the official patch day.
    In this patch the last problem was at 50% but got over it by waiting :g:
And now after checking the box it started to dl the rest of the stuff, thanks!

Blizzard downloader should start when starting the game and closing depending on your options.
   If I remember right I have the enchant on gloves + extra skinning dagger from ZG

Well tomorrow is now confirmed as patch day so you got it running just in time m8.
 
Also on the skinning you can get +5 enchant on gloves, the dagger lex is talking about drops in UBRS from the Beast. And the weapon from ZG he means is a sword. Both weapons give +10, so you can get +25 over max skill. Not that you need it once you get to TBC zones in Outland. The max skill then goes up by 75 points, but the level 70 critters will only need a 50 point increase.
 
With wrath coming up you will probably be 50 points over the max required skill at lvl 80.

Well I downloaded the new Launcher and the final 70MB of the patch and despite the 1.62GB patch having completed and verified, found that it would not install.  So, I'm off to the patch mirrors and will download the patch from there.  Pretty stupid that Blizz can't properly verify their own conpleted download. Grrrr.

Brilliant, apparently it now needs a 'repair' and the delightful repair tool informs me that my 'working perfectly last niight' Wow install is so badly damaged that there is too much to download and I need to reinstall. :doh:

Also, not sure if it's just a vista thing, but it'll move the install from Program Files to something like User/Public/Games too. Depending on the speed of your HDD this'll take anywhere upto an hour.

Still, it does move everything over, including your addons but it will NOT delete any custom folders you create in the original WOW folder, so you may want to delete that manually.

97 % in 1 minute ( i have 8MB) 5 minutes for next 2% the  last 1% was 3 minutes. Does it work though?

no problems with the patch at all here. However most of my addons are mis-behaving so I think I'm going to take a week off to let them get fixed.

Lost my mount then found it in my portrait under pets (ty to Jim)
All my talent points reset, but new feral talent tree looks good, lightheaded and cartographer also disabled, then the world server went, in game calendar is cool though.
