Draft post for the recruitment section.  Taken from the other thread and softened but still with some goals aet in there which need discussion and agreement, so I made some assumptions in editing it which need your consideration and decisions!

TL.
QuoteOur guild was founded on the principles of the dMw community and we strive to provide our members with a mature, drama-free environment where everyone cares about making the guild the best it can be and having fun whilst playing the game.

We like to raid but we still want to have a real life.  We emphasise quality over quantity, both in terms of time spent raiding and in the way we deal with our members.

We want our members to be sociable & fresh for each raid so we only raid 3 nights per week.  We feel that maximising the returns from our raiding time by being properly prepared and focused for each raid is more fun and more productive than strapping your head to the raid grindstone for 5 hours per night, 6 nights per week.

A lot of our members are in full-time employment and/or have children, so we start our raids a little later than most guilds to allow time for people to get home, have dinner and prepare for our raids properly.  Likewise we finish a little earlier than most to accommodate those who need to get up early next morning.  If you want to raid for 5 hours per night, for 6 nights per week then this is not the guild for you.

We want to defeat the raid content that the game has to offer, but we do not want to have a huge roster with a large pool of disposable raid-fodder. Everyone in Dead Men Raiding is there for the long run because they believe in our founding principles and because they enjoy the environment we provide.  By keeping a tightly-knit force of dedicated & friendly people we will be able to progress at a steady pace and finish raid content without breaking our necks over it.

You

- We don't require you to be so fluent in English you could visit the Queen without breaking a sweat, but if you simply don't have the capacity to take an active part in all guild communications, don't apply to an English speaking guild like us.

- It really helps if your completed application template to this guild is neatly filled in and without typo's. We understand that English is not everyone's first language, but if we aren't interesting enough for you to pull your application through MS Word's spellchecker at least once, you can't expect us to be interested in return.

- Perhaps related to this is that you need to leave the leetspeak at home. If somewhere along the line you got used to using words containing numbers as part of your day-to-day speech, then that's ok and we will pretend it never happened as long as you shake the habit right away. This definately includes such things as 'm8' and consistently using 'lol' as a way to end a sentence.

- Although we won't exclude people based on age, people under the age of 20 will have to prove they can fit in, and no, we don't provide a template for that one.

Gear & Attitude

We are perfectly willing to accept undergeared recruits if they are really good players & people.  If you want to progress real fast then you should have sought and acquired all the gear you can under your own power. Badge gear, reputation gear, some pvp gear, whatever is available for solo artists is something you should have as an under-geared applicant.  However, more important than your gear is that you fit in with the existing members of the guild. If you cannot socialise well on TS and in guild chat then this guild is not for you.

Raiding

At the end of the day we play this game for fun and if we can't shoot the breeze more often than not, what's there to play for, right? This means that we don't require you to be a heartless robot that can take all the flak and abuse in the world without breaking a sweat, but being able to take criticism at face value and not fretting too much about a sharp comment is important in our raids. It's about knowing when to get down to business and when to ease up, and taking an active part in both. In addition, we play this game on the internet and the internet is a place that is usually rife with miscommunication and misunderstandings, WoW is no exception to this. The key to all of this is always asking yourself 'Why' something is happening. Don't accept superficial observations, always look for an answer.  We expect our members to be mature enough and with sufficiently develoepd communication skills to be involved with these discussions and to explore the game, your character and its abilities to the fullest extent to better help the raid progress.  A proactive attitude towards everything is important.

All the above seems really lofty and we do realize that this might not always be what happens in practice. As with all things in life, there can be a lot of factors that interfere with your goals: if just wanting something to happen was enough to make it reality then we would all be sitting in the Playboy mansion playing Duke Nukem Forever. However, not striving for an ideal and just accepting the status quo is not a healthy way to go about things.

If after all of this you still think you can put up with us and have some energy left to write a kickass application, then feel free to apply here.

Nice .. it comes across fair and not too leet.. good emphasis about being able to use TS which is a must for me in getting people to work well in a raid...

Not sure how may raid nights we can do.. 3 would be great but we will have to see :g:

The main things I added as 'assumptions' were that we would raid 3 nights per week and that we would start later than most and finish earlier, in my mind I had envisaged 3 hours or so for raid time instead of the usual 4+ hours.  This should allow a start at say 19:30-20:00 UK time with a finish shceduled 3 hours later.  I thought that this might give DMR a USP to shout about in recruitment terms?

As for number of raid nights, we need to state a number.  Personally I think 3 raid nights would be about right if we keep them short and full of quality not quantity.  However we need feedback from everyone here and a concensus as soon as possible please so that we can post something.

smite

19:00-19:30 is good for me too.
ATM personally i could manage 2 not 3 but for guild purpose 3 would make more sense due to shorter raiding time.

FatBob

19:00 gather 19:15 go..go..go sounds good

Sunday, Monday, Thursday would be my ideal.

Ok, so an agreement is sort of forming for 3 raids per week (2 is fine Smite) with a later start (say gathering from 19:00 to a 19:30 start.) and shorter raid times (3 hours).

Days to raid:

Wednesday (generally best to avoid as it is patch day)
Thursday - FB, Sheepy, Smite
Friday - Smite
Saturday
Sunday - FB, Sheepy, Smite
Monday - FB
Tuesday - Sheepy

Anyone else got some preferences for days or times? We need to conclude this reasonably quickly.

The draft text has been up there for 6 days now and does not seem to have any substantive changes suggested.  As the text does not specify times/days and is generic only I will post it up as we have only 2 weeks until WotLK hits us.  If you have edits then please continue to debate them here as they can be edited into the live post, but we need to get something out there.

My thought on raid days ... for me any 2 or 3 days for what I consider core raiding .. but not on a friday or sat as they seem to be the days when things come up and people get extra drunk (hic)
