I know every game runs its course. But CS:Source?. Well, maybe it has. Just noticing the lack of fun n games on MH recently.

Was a time not so long ago, you had to queue for a game on Meathook, I distinctly remember BB saying one night.."grrr, waiting half an hour to get on here"...had the same problem myself several times....

So anyway, whats happened? Tonight was a bit of fun, but most disappeared shortly after 10 o'c (after an hour of game), Where the hell is Lib et al? I remember (and my memory is quite short, as I am the age I am) playing on MH till after all good and honest people were 30 minutes from their alarm call.

Is CS:source dead?
Is Meathook dead?
Is Lib Dead?

grrr, I'm fed up..

I joined when you guys had the last round on MH. Then went with a few people on Boomer.

Between having to travel a lot lately (4 out of the last 6 weeks) and the wow patch cycle i have not managed to play a lot of other games lately (cept for a bit of Crysis SP). With the upcoming launch of a lot of good games and the new expension i doubt i will be much on CSS or COD4 for a while.

I was on MH last night for maybe two hours from around 8 so yeah I went off at 10 but that's only because Alex wanted a 'go' on the PC. Same goes for the last two or three months Alex has the PC most Fridays and gives me a chance to pop out for a drink or two with my gf.

I did notice that it was quiet, I think at most there was maybe 16 people on? There was a time when if you tried to join after 9pm you wouldnt be able to cause of the queue!

In fact I said to Alex last night, "Hey let me go on there soon or I won't be able to get on to Meathook"

I also noticed that it was very TCS right up until I left.

One final point I probably would have stayed on a bit longer if it hadn't been for that crap (my opinion) map I left on. God I've forgotten it now.

I've noticed the low activity on MH on friday as well, and it is frustrating. As Browne said, before it was people who had to wait in line to get in, and now we cant even seem to get a game going. Yes last night was fun, but after a few hours it became abit dull so I left. (no offense to any of the people there)

To me it seems that friday night is more and more busted, since fewer and fewer people joins.

Regarding the maps, imho and my 2 pennies on the matter, is that people will always dislike or hate maps. If so its possible to say it and maybe something can be done about it. Perhaps there are people sharing the same opinion? Then its possible to change it.

And as for Lib? I scared him away.

I still have problem with my connection to the server. My ping is twice as high and spiky. Still I have been on from time to time even though I am busy with work and writing movie reviews.

Regarding maps there will always be maps that some don't like. Sure we can remove or change some maps. Finding good and interesting TCS maps are a problem though.

I don't find it constructive that people leave the server if they don't like the map. I find it even less constructive not post a comment on the map in question so the admins have a CHANCE to remove/replace it. Finally, find a map that could replace the map you don't like. FPSBANANA is a good start to look for maps. Just don't look at the screenshot but actually try them out before suggesting them to Whitey or me.

I also want to add that the last time Whitey and I added one new map per 1-2 weeks there was loads of complaints that we shouldn't add new maps ...

Since going back to uni I've been able to play games less, due to both the fact my uni life takes up different hours to my home life, and mostly due to the fact my internet has been lame.
I get pings of 20 play for 5 mins and then think "this isn't smooth" check ping and it's over 400. My steam rating has gone down to 1 since I barely play anything. I've hopefully got things sorted a little more and will try to play a bit more, but no promises.

I have been on a lot lately and I have also noticed the drop in attendees. A bit more positive, the same amount of players are typically to be found sats and suns as well so weekend gaming is doable, although from time to time with a few bots.

And yes, my ping range of 28-32 is only possible half of the nights. I have also had to struggle with 200+. And funny enough, a few days back, everyone suddenly have 340-450 ping with the exception of one! This went on for... 3-4 mins, then SJ restarted the server. Strange how one did not get higher pings, must have a different trace to the server.

Maps: for me, I just play whatever is on. True, train is not the best map, but it is still dMw gaming and I am still hoping to improve my skills on the map, plenty of spots and angles to get killed from

, so I don't mind. For me, it's dMw gaming more than what map we play. Especially on Friday nights.

As for me leaving cause I didn't like the map - well that wasn't the main reason for me leaving, I was leaving cause Alex wanted the PC and I can't even remember the map that I left on only that at the time I thought ah well Alex may as well have his go on the PC.

Maybe I could suggest somethings to try and rejuvenate the Friday MH nights?

We could mix up the evening maps and matches. For instance we could have young versus old(er). In other words, if you are under 30 then join the young team or older than 30, join the older team.

Spice things up on the server for fridays by messing with gravity for instance or other server trickery just to bring a bit of fun back to Fridays.

Maybe spice up the map rotation with a zombie map in there somewhere (just one every two hours for instance).

While I enjoy the TCS gaming, maybe the 'fun' stuff could be instigated by senior admin on server at say 9pm?

Perhaps lighten the mood up by telling everyone that they must have an alcoholic drink next to them while playing?

Anyway I'm rambling and I'm sure these ideas are just ideas and not necessarily good to go but this sort of thing could be done by senior admin on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday night on MH I'M sure!

While on server, admins could remind people to invite friends to game. If all 10 on server were to invite five then I'm sure another ten would want to join.

I've been having computer problems for a bit now, which have prevented me coming on at times, however i've also got bored of CSS. For me there's only a certain amount I can play games before getting a bit sick of them, CSS is like that for me, however I do hope that I will be able to get back into it. I don't really game much anymore, the only one I do play is Team Fortress 2. However, I may buy Left 4 Dead soon as it seems quite fun and different. I've also just been busier in life in general. OK, enough excuses. :flirty:

I have started going out with the missus on Friday nights and I am currently playing other games.
But don't worry every game has its high's and lows.
A while back there were no alternative's to CSS and DoDS but now there are lots of other online shooters with larger communities.
