Can anyone post a recommended retri pally spec?
 
Secondly, does anyone know of a good gear addon that will assess your healing gear and tell you which is better? (Like tankpoints or whatever that was called).
 
I did have healpoints, but it seems to be spirit based, and therefore aimed more at Priests than Paladins.

No idea about the addon, for healing as it is much easier now with spellpower I simply take a view on most things (plus I use a spreadsheet for the mains).

I would definetly get Imp Retri Aura over Pursuit of Justice any day. Pursuit is nice-ish for levelling when you gotta run away from mobs but the added retri damage is very lovely now that Retri aura is your main retrispec paladin's default aura. Otherwise, yeah, go with that. Personally I have this spec (with Imp Retri over Pursuit), except I've sacrificed Swift Retribution for Imp Righteous Fury (not sure if it's viable for tanking yet though). 6% damage reduction is nice though. Alternatively, if you're less party oriented, you can drop kings and get both Swift Retribution and Pursuit.

Although you can hardly go wrong with a ret spec nowadays. I found myself struggling for talents to put points in rather than the other way around during the last 10 lvls really. I changed my build the other day, I have full kings now and Pursuit of Justice as well, and 1 point in Swift Retribution. I took Pursuit over Swift Retribution because I think the extra mobility is really worth taking over a 2% attack speed increase.

I would say Thebhoy.  Best DPS I have seen from a ret paladin by far of any guild on Aszune.  Impressive thing is he was pumping out impressive dps  pre-WotLK too.

Is there really that much you can do to change that? As a ret I find it's all about spike damage. One quick burst of 3 cooldowns in a row. Judgement, CS and DS (not sure about the order off the top of my head, but you'd start with the one that has the longest cooldown I suppose), and should mana/the situation allow it a Cons. Then wait 2 or 3 seconds, rinse and repeat.

Imo 'the best dps on the server' nowadays with alot of classes, but especially with Paladins, is just a matter of the one who doesn't forget to push the buttons whenever they're up. Since we don't have more skills than cooldowntime can fill (like hunters).

You'd be amazed at the difference between someone who keeps their cooldowns up and thinks they are good and someone who can keep the Cds up whilst moving and reacting to fight dynamics in a raid environment.

That's essentially the skill with healing: anticipation, for when a big heal, or flash heal, or a crit heal is needed...
