Again I was confusing rating with the actual skill. Here was me thinking I had actually almost reached the 540 cap, but I only have 504 rating (which is nowhere near 504 defense xD). Thanks for this, will keep it in mind (yes, even though I'm offspec I do gather gear, you never know )

to be honest with all the L77-80 defense gear you can easily pick up that 540 defense cap - i had to stack a few of the "tempered saronite" defense set (only helm + Legs) just to hit the cap and now i'm on 566 cap (trying to replace those two saronite bits of gear with tempered Titansteel

Oh and i've only got 1 defense gem + enchant on which helps....

Recommend getting the Seal of the Pantheon from halls of lightning normal off last boss

lil off topic, but i can melt titansteel now Jim (and others) so if you need more, just bring some mats

From what I see regarding Drood tanks, No defense rating is required to become uncritable. So I'm not sure if its useful at all now for the fury ones

Reached defcap last night (545 now) with almost no effort. Like said below it's really easy to reach it and you hardly have to go out of your way to pick it up. I'm kitted in blues/some heroic/Naxx/badge epics + enchants and gems and I'm already there.

The problem i found is not getting there once, but staying there. A lot of the naxx reward have far lower defense rating then the items i am replacing (crafted blues). I need all the enchants and stuff i can get to remain crit immune. Later on, once your in full naxx 10 epics, its np again. Odd, in the other expension/vanilla you where crit immune before you knew.

I've been thinking about this myself too. The way I am atm I can handle upgrading through Naxx 10 man as long as I keep my helm, which adds a whole 22 defense (not rating) on its own hehe.

So far it seems to me like Naxx 10 man loot is sometimes less and mostly equal to heroic loot. Not really expecting this to stay a problem

This will be an issue throughout the content that is currently available. Not saying it will be a problem, but you will always have to keep it in mind when you get upgrades. I've had to regem several times allready because of upgrades I've received to stay above the cap.

as you level up and get hit you should get to the defense cap for druid (which is just 400/400 and 3/3 survival) no further gear is needed. Armor/stam/agi would be good attributes.
