Gnomie

Hi!

So I got home from my vacation yesterday (drove for 12 hours). Once I'd had some sleep the first thing on my list was to try out nKP. :D However the car is completely undrivable because my wheel is oscillating like crazy when driving down a straight line. I've read the threads at RSC, but nothing I've tried so far has done the trick.

So: could someone please post their settings here? (I've only got access to the demo car). Would appreciate it! :)

Me first. :D
In Wingman Profiler: (point it to nks.exe)
Use special FF devise settings = ticked
Overall effects strengths = 100
Spring effect = 0
Centreing spring = 0 (enabled ticked or unticked, can't discern a difference)
Use Special steering wheel settings = ticked
Degrees of rotation = 400°
I've also ticked the 'Allow game' and 'use special' boxes although I don't think nKP has that facility.

In game settings:
In the configuration page leave the FF setting as 100
The next bit is PER SETUP.
In the garage go to 'SETUP 2' There you'll see:
'ff gain' I have it set to 1700 but this is a personal thing. Fiddle with that to give you the 'weight' you're happy with.
ff damping = 0 (fully to the left)
ff friction = 0
And that's it! :)

Thanks, but for some reason this doesn't solve the problem. :crying: I so much want this to work..

I'll try to remove it and then re-install the whole thing..

Seany

he he your going to kick yourself, much like I did :D .
Start the game, in the pits click on "tires" menu at the top, now click "Mount Front" and "Mount Rear" to change the tires for fresh ones. That oscillating is from the tires being flat spotted. The sim remembers your tire condition (in fact all aspects of damage) from your last session, even if you exit the game and come back.

I wondered who'd be the one to spot that. Not only make sure they are slicks and not RG (road going I think)
Change them in: track day/session tab/ car setup tab

Doh!!  :D Well now it's working. I did a re-install in any case before reading Seany's post. I don't know if it was the tire thing or the reinstall that solved it, but now it's working! And that's the main thing.

Gotta go do some practicing. Thanks for your help! :)

Mille Sabords

Your conversations made me download+install the demo at work today... and start reading the manual.
No good for productivity!

I hope I can give it a shot tonight, XFR on FE black seems a bit over my skill (6 seconds per lap off Venca at best, pushing hard - i.e. flipping the car once every 3 laps in average...)

Thanks for the information!

Oh dear. Beware, it may suck your life away.
Don't forget the additional tracks. Here's 3 of them.
Falkenburg is on the menu tonight.

Mille Sabords

You can add them to the demo then? Would you care to enlighten me?
(page 50 or so, no quite there yet ;))

If ever a demo encouraged anyone not to buy the full game this is it! I thought the LFS demo was generous!
