Is there any way i can use all 4 of my cores with the tray client?

For the sake of a reply - sorry I don't know. Although I would probably say no but not sure.

I'm not sure either, but I never managed to get the tray version working with all 4 cores.

On Sunday I installed the SMP client tho and that does utilise all of them. And it was very easy to setup. I used the "Windows: v6 Beta client(for MPICH)" Version and simply followed these instructions: linky

EDIT: btw, this client does not run as a service....you will have a cmd-prompt open to follow the progress. THis also makes it easy to stop and start it again, incase you want to disable it whilst playing. Simply CTRL+C within the prompt to stop folding. And launch it again to restart.

Hmmm... I can guess the problem is that the SMP-client is console-only and you want the tray functionality? If you managed to install the client in four different dirs (and thus work dirs) and managed to set four different work IDs, then perhaps? I am not sure how it would divide the activity to different cores - or if the affinity results in all being run on one core? I reckon you could do it.

That said - I would seriously suggest going SMP

Could you use imagecfg or start /affinity to set CPU/core affinity for each exe?

The GPU-version is much, much more effective. However, you can run both - just be sure to set the priority slightly higher on the GPU-client. This is under options in the tray-icon. And, also be sure your nVidia-drivers are up to date to reduce the CPU-load by the GPU-client.

both installed and running (sort of)
smp seems to have two processes ...not 4? and it's only using 23% and 5%, system idle taking the remaining 70%... not sure gpu AND smp is working?

I had both CPU and GPU folding running together fine on my Quad core (before the mobo died on me). I used the Deino version of the SMP and got four instances. It should show 25% on each process with 4 cores.

Silly question: If you are running 4 cores at 25% or 1 core at 100% which gives you the most points?
 
If i remember correctly the number of points you get is based on the time taken to complete the work package (i.e. shorter time = more points).

4 cores at 25% CPU resource utilisation per folding process *is* actually 100% of each CPU core. It's because of the way Windows shows used resources in the process list (Linux and BSD actually do the same). 4 CPU cores = 100%, not 400%. Therefore a single process using 25% of your total available CPU resources in the process list is actually probably running on a single core and completely maxing it out. if you've got 4 cores and any 1 process is showing >25% CPU resource utilisation then you know you've got something that's multi-threaded and capable of running on multiple cores simultaneously.

Which SMP-version - the Deino? If so, that is a bit difficult to get running. The other version is much more simple.
