CoD in it's vanilla format is doing well. the public is busy most night that aren't dMw specific game nights. so no worries there.

But the creepy server has been around a week or so now and I want feed back. This has not been posted on the general forum as I want the Admins that play the game to make some constructive points. rather than a list of dislike. I have that already from in game chat. I would need to remove all this on the creep server to make people happy.

Choppers
Claymores
Snipers in most flavors
TDM
HQ/DOM
The creep server
Put name tags back
3x grenades
RPG
Last Stand
Grenade launchers
Blood splats

Then I have my banned weapon list. some think it's good, some don't.. After doing all this I would still have people moaning that I have taken away there beloved "something or other"

The problem I have is I enjoy all forms of CoD, as long as it's competitive and I am playing well. I even like playing Bloc.

So I need things we can do to the creepy server to make things better with out turning it in to CS. With OpenWarfare we have loads of options. If you haven't downloaded it yet to look at the config files, you should it will help.

Benny

Constructive you say...I'll have a go.

I haven't played CoD  for a fair while, mainly because I dislike the lack of communication and teamwork that becomes hugely apparent when there are more than 8 people on.

I was dubious about the introduction of creepy, it felt like you were trying to wedge a game mode in that would be reliant on self policing. I was wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed the creepy nights to start with. I'm not overly worried about weapon restrictions or perk restrictions.

I had to leave last night as the TK's were annoying me. The lack of tags is awful. Whilst the argument is that you wouldn't have them in real life does hold. I'd like to point out that I don't shoot people in real life, real soldiers don't have to crouch everywhere and don't have map edges to stop them moving. This is a game and there has to be a balance between fun and realism. Realism is Op Flashpoint, fun is CS. I would argue we want somewhere in the middle. Retain the fun and enjoyment whilst making it a bit more dangerous to run and gun.

If it was possible I would just change the sprint CVAR down to 5 secs with a 90 second cooldown and all the issues of fragging and sprinting would be fixed. The extreme endurance could give you and extra 5 seconds sprint or slightly shorter cooldown.

I don't like not being able to run between cover points, but I do like the increased reliance on tactics and cunning as opposed to reaction times and hip shooting.

Personally I would bring back the tags, leave all else on and let it sit for about 2 weeks and see how the reaction is.

I love the new lack of tags, despite the high levels of TKs at the moment.
You have to really be sure before you fire, and it adds a scary reality to the game.
as I have said before, 5 sec sprint with a long cooldown would be ideal, and sprinting for cover/across open ground should be allowed.
For the 1st time I am kitting myself with smoke.
Team DM is a mode I'm not that keen on as I like to have a mission, although I have enjoyed the games lately due to the slowed down pace.
As far as weapon/perk restrictions are concerned, I'm not too fussed about losing anything apart from my beloved Claymores.
I don't have a problem with Choppers and Airstrikes either. Just take cover for a bit and it's all over.
More comms and co-operation would be good too.
I'm sure I'll think of some more later.

Blunt

What do you guys think of reducing the walk speed. Then we would not need to make people crouch, with the increased cool down on sprint. would this give us what we want to achieve.

Benny

Makes perfect sense to me. Is the walking to quick a the moment if you lock down the sprint times?

sorry :g:

Crouching naturally slows everything, which was the goal. Is saying walk everywhere that much quicker? Would it impact the game that much to limit to walking simply by changing the sprint and cooldown CVARs. Less changes, less to police..

I agree. I haven't noticed walking to be that much quicker than crouch/walking.
If you're sensible, you crouch most of the time anyway.

I agree with Benny on these points, If tags were to remain however, maybe it would help if we was to remove snipers becuase of the gilly suits / Identifaction issues and another option is maybe having radar on? (if possible)

I think this is actually a good idea, it will help everyone keep tabs on their team's position although not sure about the sprint, well worth trying to see if it works.

We can disable Helos if we want to

I have discovered why the perks were not being restricted. There is a setting in one of the 16 different config files called "set scr_forceunrankedmatch". This setting defaults to 0.

I understood it applied to the match.cfg file but, having tested on my home server, I see it also affects the normal server.cfg file and, despite the word match in the setting, does make the server properly unranked.

What this means is that we can enable/disable everything we want, the mod STILL DOES NOT affect your normal profile, BUT, you do lose the capability to have custom classes although you can modify the default classes once you are on the server. However, the changes are not sticky between times you join the server.

So peeps, what do we do?

As I said, what do we do. I have not yet set variable to 1 to enforce unranked server with restricted weapons.

I am going to reinstall the mod from scratch to see if that fixes the crashes

That sounds like a good plan, also increasing the length of time that your dead will give your life more value and should help encourage better team play.  I'm with Blunt regarding TDM, I like to have an objective other than just frag the enemy. :)

If we are going to keep creepy COD, I need a volunteer to develop and look after it.

I can't see why we can't have a creepy night on Thursdays. But I need some one to look after the server, work on a final set of rules for the MOD, find a map rotation and be moderator to a new Creepy COD subforum.

It's will be a big job with little thanks. So who wants it.

Snokio

Unfortunately I don't think this is something I can fully commit to myself, however, if anyone needs any help, give us a shout if i can be of any use.

I found that the mod comes from here:

http://openwarfaremod.com/owforum/portal.php

So if there is an issue with the mod, these guys will be able to assist

maybe we could discuss the set rules here? Personally I wouldn't make them too complicated and keep them basic (like disable airstrike or heli's etc), I guess the more rules you have, the more people will moan (but that's just MO) :)
