Quote from: delankster;266881we did start to get to grips with it and imho we had our best spell in the match defending a position. so maybe we should concentrate on that side for now :)

Thats what I'm thinking, as in last nights practice we were basically all defending. I think we are all playing more of the defending game than going Rambo. So might be a good idea to spot the best defending places and then make a rotation for them, so they are always coming after us ? We are just changing places by backing up and killing them.

Actually what we did last night is firstly attack alot untill we had some chokepoints on one map so that we could cover it with only 2 people.
Lateron we had other good defensive spots which could be coverd with 2 which they didn't manage to overteake untill later in the match.

I reckon, should you get a decend lead in the match, fall back to defense.

Though I agree to defending, I don't agree with falling back. Yes defending, is usually easier than attack as your putting yourself less in harms way (on the offensive you often have to forsake cover) and therefore taking less risks. But remeber the old adage 'attack is the best form of defence'. My advice is if your going to defend do it in the oppositions back yard or as high up the field as safe to do so!

Why? Well if your going to defend then take a position as high up the field ie near to their spawn as possible - that way if you get shot and the opposition are heading towards your objective, you may still have time to respawn and attack them again. The equivelant of them having to shoot you twice to reach their objective!

If you defend deep ie literally defending their objective, once they take you out they are already on/near the objective and the chances are you won't have time to respawn before they taking the objective.

Just a thought ...

That is more or less what we did.
We didn't fall back to defend, we held central positions and did not push.
The map was downpour and we were fighting left to right in the linked map.
we had fought around the middle and pushed them back to the glasshouses. they didn't appear to want to come to us so we stayed put as we had the higher score. we were holding the centre of the map and keeping them at the edges.
Once the choke points are covered it is difficult to break out, especially with only 3 on a team.

I must say it was a little disappointing to not get full teams for the praccy (I realise it's mid-week and RL gets in the way, and I'm not blaming anyone for that), but tactics 3v3 are alot different to tactics 5v5 so we're not getting a full benefit out of the session.

Sorry Blunt, it was Duvel saying fall back and defend which prompted my email.

Yes I wish could play more cod and help with practice but its random times when I can play so I can't commit until a day before etc sorry

No probs m8.

I think Duv meant "resorted to"  rather than "Fell back" although we did fall back just a few yards to get in good cover.

As Blunt said, we had them coverd through some good chokepoints and they kept their position (very good ones I must say).
The 2 others tryed getting them but it didn't work and we got killed a couple of times. As we had a good lead, why risk getting wasted when your not 100% sure where they are.

Blunt was covering my back by the wholebreach near the 2 silo's and I was watching to the left to where the house entrance is and where the shack is with the tractor.

Sparko was covering the left from on top of the tractorshack and coverd the house entrance to be sure.

I found that it's quite dependent on the map and the position you are in, I remember on the ED match (5 vs 5) we held right back picked our defense points and stayed there for sometime which really gave us a fighting chance and slowly clawed our way back in contention,

We even tried it in the match last night, IIRC, Sulky stayed on the right flank (right side of greenhouse) and took a number of you out without dieing, however, as you stated you was ahead, so you stopped the advances which forced us out of our defense holes , good tactic on your behalf, to late on ours. But I think this is different for each map.

With regards to XAC, mine stopped as well (wish i had taken a screen-shot )  half way through the game, need another practice match to help determine where the problem lies, oh, and that occasional 1-2 second lag is XAC taking the screen-shot I believe :g: (we had this in the ED match as well)
 Bring on the randomness!
Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?
