Good race for the first 22 minutes. Good fighting with Obsolum, very nice defensive driving there. At about 59:30 my fuel was all used and the car stopped at 59:50.

This was the first race where I got a blown tire. It was the left front tire that blew in the last corner before the pit entry. After changing a new one to left front only and after a few laps seeing it bright red I had to start driving more carefully. Luckily that meant driving more smooth, and immediately I started getting new PB's. I thought that I was driving more slowly, but times proved the opposite.

obsolum

I enjoyed this one. The grid was smaller than usual, though. I wonder why :g:

During quali I set a new pb that put me 7th on the starting grid, which is probably my best qualifying position in a dMr race so far :) A few laps in the race I found myself in 3rd (podium! ME!!), but I didn't have any illusions about keeping that position. I knew there were faster guys behind me and they'd soon be sniffing my rear bumper and trying to take my podium place  But I sure as hell wasn't going to give it away without a fight! :boxing: Had a few good laps with Romus hot on my tail. I gotta say my defensive driving skills have improved a lot since I started racing with dMr and I think it shows, if I can so myself :flirty: In the end the inevitable happened and Romus got past; he quickly built a large gap so I decided to just focus on 4th and keep easyed behind me. Easier said than done; it was obvious he was significantly faster than me. We switched positions a few times when both of us made mistakes, but in the end he, too, wasn't in my sights anymore. So... 5th it was then. After my pitstop (4 tyres changed) I still had a comfortable lead on the guy behind me - Slider46 I believe it was - so I concentrated on just doing my laps and bringing it home. On the last lap I saw Romus mention that he was out of fuel and saw that he had retired, which is a damn shame  Actually my first thought was "oh damn, I hope he didn't use my fuel calculator..." :D So I ended up in 4th after all, which is my best finish in a dMr 1h race so far! :yahoo:

Thanks for the race, guys, I enjoyed it.

Mille Sabords

No time for racing last night.
Unfortunate, because this car is more interesting than I remembered (mousing times...luckily over)
I still am not able to force myself to trust downforce in these GTR cars, so my lines are more "XRTish" than they should (and my lap times as well ;).

Looking forward to FO8 again, but I still have to find out how to memorize this KY long gp thingy.

Congrats to the bold ones who took part!

easyed

Gotta say this was fun - but I was my own worst enemy

It didn't help that I popped onto the server several hours before the race ..... was just gonna do a few laps.  But I was having such fun I just stuck around, doing laps, chatting and drinking too much coffee :woot2:

3 pm (eastern US) rolled around and I was wondering why quali wasn't starting ...... You blokes don't do daylight savings time!! :eyebrow: so the quali wasn't starting for another hour :dribble: More java, more laps.

Started in 2nd position behind Venca and managed to keep him in sight for a few laps.  Then 4 self-inflicted mistakes in 4 laps :crying: Simple things ... 2 spins from slipping on the candystriping and 2 spins from too much gas exiting the final turn.  Dropped me back to 5th-6th.

Wached the Romus/obsolum battle from a little behind them.  After Romus won out, I got on obsolum's tail.  Some good defensive driving but I think I was making him a bit nervous :narnar: and he eventually let me past :flirty: Caught up with Romus as he was pitting.  Spent the next 20 laps wondering where everybody had gone .... had to check the map to know there were other racers on the track .... y'all avoiding me?? ;)

Did see Old Bloke very briefly and then Romus going about 20 mph on the start straight  .... putting me up to 3rd.  Tough luck mate!!

I didn't really practise enough for this one and it showed. I was not comfortable with the car at all, I also think I may of had my FFB too high, damn thing was wrenching my arms off :).

Was quite a quiet race but I did have a couple of battles that where fun and I caught a few people near the end due to their tire problems.

Very unlucky for Romus running out of fuel so close to the line, unfortunate mate :/.  I don't think you had done that much practise for this combo either, but I am always very impressed by how you can learn "on the job", knocking out PB after PB once you get your rhythm.

Well done Venca and the podium takers

Lameduck

Well done to all finishers :D
I ran out of ankle @45 mins, but 'til then thoroughly enjoyed myself.
By next week will be superfit :roflmao: so look forward to the '8' :yahoo:

I'm sure I saw two T7R guys doing well in qualifying, but they didn't stick around for the race.  That meant I started from 3rd.  Chased easyed for a few laps, he made a few mistakes and I sneaked up to second, only to see Venca going further and further into the distance

Didn't see many cars during the race, just had to concentrate and not fall off, kept it there for a podium 2nd place, pleased with that  :yahoo:

Congrats too all that made it, commiserations to Romus for his fuel mis-calculation.
