Gents,

I've been revisiting the 'Golden Member' badge and thinking about it and how/if we use it.

The original criteria was going to be:

Golden Member Awarded for members achieving: Supporting member or LAN attendee badge + game badge + F@H badge + Forum contributor badge

I think we pretty much concluded that it was going to be nigh on impossible to specify what or whats didn't make a quality forum contributor and dumped that in favour of giving the green forum badge to forum moderators.

We we made Golden Member - Supporting Member or LAN Attendee + game badge + F@H badge is that enough?

It's a pretty easy target it has to be said. Perhaps we up the ante and go for two game badges?

I don't think we can say you have to be Supporting Members AND LAN Attendee as that's a bit harsh.

Or, alternatively, do we just dump it as an idea or even radically overhaul the criteria.

I'm opening this up for everyone as it'd be nice to get everyone's input and then collectively decide on its future.

personally i think you would have to drop F@H as a criteria for it, its is in one respect making it mandatory to do that to achieve a place in the forums - and is equivalent to a "game" badge as it already has its own badge.

This sort of badge could never IMO have a mandatory badge in it - beyond contributor and or lan, as these are the ways that the community is funded

Personally I don't think we need it. It may become divisive.

The badges are great, but let's not make them like the golden weapons in CoD.

I'm pretty ambivalent about it too tbh.

I'm going to remove it from the list for the time being until such time as/if we find a use for it.

I think that would be a reasonable plan, maybe add it to the list to discuss come LAN time.
