I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard, CPU and RAM in the near future, heres what I have in mind:

ASUS A7V333 Mainboard - £72
AMD Athlon XP1800 - £63
256meg PC2700 DDR RAM - £47

Question: Are these prices good ones, and would you reccomend any different components?

Cheers :)

they seem very good prices m8, i'd snap their arms off if these prices include vat. just out of interest where did you get these prices from ? :D and yes the bits you've put down rOxOr
asus = quality, easy to put together and very well laid out mobo ie:you dont have to take the ide cables/hard drive out just to fit the ram (damn you chaintech). only other mobo's worth checking out for athlons are abit  (which i got) but when i next upgrade i will defo get asus.
processor = whatever you like as long as it's got ATHLON written all over it  8)
ram = whatever ya like !

I'm using an ASUS A7V atm, and I'm super impressed with it, thus the reason i've gone for a A7V333 upgrade :)

The prices are from //www.itbutikken.dk , I know it sounds foreign but most of its in english (all the prices are in £, including VAT) and they do cheap delivery to the UK (it a company based in Denmark, i think).

I'm using an ECS K7S5A mobo. It's reliable and great if you're not upgrading all of your hardware as it takes a wide range of different stuff.

Worth a look, but if it's outright performance, then prob best to stick with what you've already chosen.

I had a quick look at Scan and their prices ATM are:
 Asus A7V333 £77
No name 256 ram pc2700 £52
XP1800 £73

Prices inc vat i dont think there is delivery charge above £100 - but check.
This is about £20 more expensive than your Danish (w/out delivery) - but i was wondering about returns and how reputable the Danish place is.

Might be worth considering the xtra money  - afterall its only 9.1 beers

I ordered my last PC from SCAN and when I put it together and plugged it in nothing happened. I suspected the MoBo and spent the best part of three days trying to get an answer from their service desk. They said they'd call me back and never did. When I did get a response, by phoning the sales line (it always gets answered) telling them I was a bit annoyed and could they put me through to someone in charge, I had to go through some basic tests before they would accept it back as a return.
They may be cheap but the service is cheaper.
Just a warning.

Although we are actually having trouble with one of their mobos at the moment (probably), it might be worth checking out Epox (//www.epox.org or //www.epox.nl).  They have a seriously good mobo reputation and are one of the standard choices for those wishing for a bit more clock-ability.

If they do you wrong I'll beat on them for you - they are but a drive and a seven iron from my house  :D
