The latest update includes "Safety ratings" based on yellow flag activity, Airios creator and programmer explains it better than I can:

Quote from: EQ WorryThe system tries to assess drivers' ability to drive in a clean fashion as a percentage between 100 (best driver) to 0 (worst). The rating raises a bit on every finished lap and finished race, goes down a bit with each yellow flag caused in race and bad language. These items have configurable weights. Weight of 0 means no change to the rating, positive weights raise the rating, negative lower it.

If a driver has currently rating level of 50 percent, then a rating event with weight of 100 raises the rating by 1 percent of the current rating, that is to 50.50. But the higher the rating, the less is added (making 100 percent impossible to reach). If someone has rating of 75 percent, then an event with weight of 100 raises the rating only to 75.25 while e.g. yellow flag will lower it to 74.25.

The same is true for the opposite side of the rating spectrum. Zero percent is impossible to reach and the lower your rating the less important yellow flags are and the easier it is to climb back. Overall, I think the default values function pretty well. Reasonable drivers would climb up from 50 percent to around 70. Going up from there to 80 or even 90 percent is not easy, gains accumulated over several laps and finished races may be lost by one bad accident.

And yup, I know simply counting yellow flags in races is not always just because you cause yellow flag even when the crash is not your fault. The point is it is a reliable indication over time, when people have several hundreds of rating events (shown in []). It is also possible to evade yellow flags e.g. by fast spectating/pitting when crash is inevitable, which could help keep the track clean.

To see the ratings of eveyone on the server use !rate (!rt), to see just yours use !pi

and hey! lets be careful out there.

Thanks for that Ben.
It seemed to work OK last night, with the exception being when leaving the pits, everybody got a yellow. Even with no cars within 2-300 yards

Just as a matter of interest, who is the safest driver at the moment

Yep, i got one as i pulled into the pits when there was nobody about? But overall, it could be a good giude to numptyness.
If/when Airio becomes self aware, and i reckon it will, do you think it will just spectate the crashmasters or put 200 volts through thier accelerator pedal when approaching corners?:D

I'm guessing .... ratings stats only started accumulating with FXO @ WE1 ?

If so, I've go a bit of an advantage - doing quite a few hot laps :

mine is currently -

Rating 65.19% (1/27) [89]

I'm guessing that means I'm first out of 27 doing 89 laps.  I believe I was at about 59% this morn before I did 40 or so more laps.

I had one race last nite with some noob and spent most of the laps on the grass chatting but all the rest of the laps were hot laps.

Didn't notice any errant yellow flags

I always thought that Dead Men Racing was a pretty numpty free area. :g:

It is, the safety rating is just a new "feature" of Airio, I'm not sure if it will be of any real benefit yet as you have to have been on the server for some time to get a negative enough rating to be banned automatically and by that time anyone that bad would have been kicked manually anyway.

I could raise the lower limit so anyone new joining, driving onto the track during a race and causing a bit of mayhem would be auto banned but looking at the list (!safe) someone here would have been banned already ;)

So far we can see a list of who can get around the track without crashing and who can't, hopefully making some think about their standard of driving. I think in it's fullest use, it's meant for unsupervised servers.

Mixed feelings.

Great on the demo.

Bad on the main server, for all the same reasons I hate the thing at the top of the screen on iRacing.  We're grown-ups on the main server, and we know who's safe and who's not. :)

Oh, and it penalises you for leaving the pits...

delanvital

the yellow flag warnings I've had makes "sense" then :)

Jamin

Yellow flags on leaving the pits isn't a problem as explained in the info I posted above. We'll evaluate it's use on the main server to see if it's anything other than a novelty, on the demo out of 153 joiners, 119 are below standard and 17 banned since Saturday.

There's no way an admin could have removed so may disruptive people so it seems to be working on there.
