Team Balance & Good Gameplay

I have noticed recently that quite often the sides have become unbalanced with all the experienced PCS players on one side and newer players on the other.  That's a sure fire recipe for disaster.  For example, the other night the map I was playing CT on changed and cs_assault was loaded.  When I looked at those already in the server there were 2 CTs and 1 T.  I joined T to balance the teams and to follow my normal CT/T rotation.  However, just 15 seconds later there were 7 Ts and only 3 CTs.

Recommended Best Practice

(1) When you join the game for the first time, take a while to examine the teams, team members and scores in the context of the map to see which side needs your help.  Join the team that needs your help even if it is not your preferred side for 'that' map.

(2) When a map changes, alternate between T & CT each time - most other players do this.  You'll get to know your team mates better over a period of maps, not just a few rounds.  You also get to understand the firing lines on the maps better if you play them from both sides.

(3) Keep an eye on the score.  If, as described in the California Penal Code, you see a 220 in progress (Assault with intent to mayhem/rape/sodomy/oral copulation) then you should talk to your team members about changing sides to rebalance the teams.  Sometimes it just needs 1 player from each side to swop, other times you'll need to play 7 against 4 to make it equal.

Good gameplay is what it is all about. Let's keep it that way!

If i join and a game has been going on for sometime i will look at scores or join the defending team if the sides are even (ie 5V5).
But when a new game starts i do auto just so i can be in a different team than i was last time really just for a change because i dont want to play with the same guys as i did last time. This may mean that i am on the terrorist side again but each map is different and i may be defending rather than attacking.
What i am saying is people when a new game starts should click auto instead of choosing the side that is better for that map and then you dont know who you are playing with or what side. if the teams are then too biased then change around. If oldie is on he is normally good at telling people to swap.
End of Rant....until next time smiteeeey over and out

If the score is even and the team is even by numbers, join CT on DE and AS maps and T on CS maps. I think this is a good guideline.

If (3) is in progress always join the rapees instead of the rapers. You might get lucky ;)

I really hate to bring this up again, but ppl please look at the scoreboard before joining the game. You should also check the scoreboard from time to time during the game. Especially now with the strange lag issues that make ppl join and leave randomally.

Yesterday we had some totally crazy rounds on Aztec. Ts were one person up for seven rounds in a row and the score was 7-0 in Ts favour. I didn't want to suggest "teams" as I wanted to see how long it would take the Ts to switch. I waited for 5 rounds and nothing happened. The Ts didn't seem to realise they were raping us with AKs and SIGs and we had only pistols. When two guys in the T team started scouting the bridge I got friggin pissed off. So I rushed the bridge but I didn't kill any T. I know this was wrong. I just wanted the Ts to wake up.

The first thing I got the next round from the guy I rushed was "how un-PCS that was". I of course agreed and told him how un-pcs it was not to balance the teams for 5 rounds and then turning it into a scoutfest leading by 7. After that one person swithched and one CT dropped. Teams were even and of course a new player joins and goes, you guessed it, terrorist. The final score on the map was someting in the order of 14-3. It should have given the Ts a hint that the teams were unbalanced ... or one should think.  :o|:

Then I guess some of you would say "why didn't you just ask for balancing the teams?". This is a PCS server you should not have to ask for team balance after 5 rounds of rapeage. If there had been any of the veterans on the server they would have switched without even asking AND this topic have been here since August. One would hope that ppl read the topics posted in the PCS Discussion forum.

So pretty please with sugar on top - read the "Recommended best practice" and check the scoreboard from time to time.   :afro:

  Sorry, I was one of those T's.
I did offer to swap but I got no reply. The next time I'll just swap.
I am concerned that suddenly you'll have a unfair teams as everyone swaps to the losing side
I got a bit carried away in all the killing, which is unusual for me (the killing, not the carried away, that happens all the time)
Abject apologies.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Interesting point, sometimes when I join a game I allways press TAB to see the team lists.... only prob is sometimes you cant see the scores until you've picked a team..... bit of a pain that.

I've been using Fusion pack until v8 came out, but up until then under v7 I have been able to make out the team scores when joining and hence establish which team to join.  They're not totally clear, but clear enough to allow you to decide.   CS Retail or straight CS Mod may be different though.

The other indicator I use if the two scores appear similar is to look at the frag/death scores of the individual players - these appear far more clearly.  This is usually a good indicator as well (I am aware of the situations where it might not be).

Not true actually. They changed that from 1.4 to 1.5. Now you are able to see the score.
