What non-dMw game - with dMw potential - do you play the most?

Yes but I'm not sure how many people we lose that can't run it?

I just have to post this:

Look at the posting date. Good to see we're going for modern games :roflmao::roflmao:

On a serious note, I've been looking for a dog-fighting style game for the LAN as it's something which I think lots of people would enjoy as a diversion.  So well up for introducing it if it's popular. We bandied around the idea of Red Baron but it wouldn't work on 64-bit.

I presume it's an updated version we're talking about and commonly played?

B-17 Flying Fortress is good in multiplayer, althought the graphics leave alot to be desired :roflmao:

Tutonic

TF2, and Company of Heroes.

Arma 2 is just too damn buggy...

FrEnZy

TF2, and the occasional wander back into supreme commander.

Neither if which are strong contenders for dMw imo.

So, depite my subtle musings, everyone is posting up random games that they play now and then that are of no use to us. Saying I'd love a a game of Speedball now and then helps nobody.

The only really sensible pieces I've seen in here are Arma 2 and a flight sim. Frankly the flight sim piece is with Sulky. He's made the effort to set something up so people with an interest should get over there and try it. Perhaps a thread discussing flight sims. I'm sure our resident pilots would love the opportunity to play more. Blurring this thread with it isn't working.

Arma 2 is, it would appear, buggy and not everyone's idea of fun, but the potential is there for a good dMw game IMO.

We need to stop looking at 'I like this' and 'I like that' and start thinking how it would benefit the community and how it would attract like minded individuals.

From here I would say...let's discuss Arma 2 and other new releases and get on board with them early. NeoTokyo is a great example.

Flightsims are slightly different, start some threads based on genre.

Oh, and I'm off to edit the top post now to clean things up....

Oh, and by the way, if you want an easy to pick up LAN game with minimal spec requirements, http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/sim/airfixdogfighter/index.html?tag=result;title;0 is superb for a fve minute fix.

I'm not sure we'lre talking about a flight sim as opposed to a flight combat sim.

Though much as it sounds fun flying in 'real time' over the Atlantic in a 747 I'd rather get to shoot the ass of someone dogfighting in a Spitfire.

Each to their own I know but they're very different beasts.

Arma II has bucket's of potential, but it's probably a good 2 or 3 patches away from being playable online.

That and the fact that our server likes to ban retail copies on sight :P

One for the future, if they can iron out the bugs.

I only downloaded Neo-whatshisface this morning, so I haven't had a chance to play it yet - looks quite good from what I've seen online though.

Has anyone played Insurgency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurgency:_Modern_Infantry_Combat) recently? I remember giving it a try when it first came out a couple of years back and it was a very solid Source mod - super realistic and highly teamwork flavoured.

I love insurgency!

On some servers its so tactical and realistic, we tried it here but only about 4 or 5 of us seemed to like it :(

Red Orchestra is another mod that springs to mind, but last time I played it was a bit rough around the edges - anyone played it recently?

I have to say I agree. After about 3 flights I try flying as low as possible without crashing, switching my engines off mid flight etc to make things interesting. Combat Flight sim was great back in the day I got IL-2 a while back in a bundle and haven't play it, I wonder if this is similar or more regular flight sim. I keep meaning to check.

I think the issue with Insurgency and Red Orchestra is the similarity to what we have already and that dilutes our existing player base rather than grabs new ones...unless it's done carefully.

If you have CoD, CS, Insurgency, DoD...is there enough difference to warrant trying another server. I'll add them to the top list and as we whittle them down to the 'worth investigating' we'll go from there.

And for those that can't look at the first post for lazy reasons;

Company Of Heroes and Empire Total War ought to be on that RTS list :)

I do think a strategy game would add more diversity, however I'm not sure what is popular currently or if it would take off well.

We have a strategy-gaming section which, however, is rather dead...
