Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

Classic game, it's about time someone made a proper sequel...

Vargen

I spent sooooo much time playing Carmageddon. It was brilliant! A reincarnation could be pretty awesome :)

I so almost sponsored...

I sponsored them $54 (£34) as this is what I'd pay for a release title. That gets me two copies of the game on steam and a warm fuzzy feeling.

They had me at "I was in the war!".

Take the time to watch the Kickstarter the video (below). These guys are an independent British games developer and deserve our support.

I've asked them for details of multiplayer, as I spent many hundreds of hours on Carmageddon LAN games with my brother playing on "SUMO".

For those of you who sadly missed the greatest car game ever and the first 3D physics game ever, the "SUMO" multi-player map was a giant tower where you could ram your opponent(s) car(s) off, to fall hundreds of feet to the desert below. Those with a bit of skill could get the "magnetic grip" powerup and with if done quickly, could drive up the tower back into the fight.

So cool and so un-PC it was awesome. You could run down grannies who would cry "I was in the war!" as you did. Ridiculous cars, comic power-ups like the "electro ******* ray" - Carmageddon was a sandbox game before the term was invented. GTA and so many other titles have stolen ideas from this, the original. The later games were all spin-offs and toned down, fully PC - none had the irreverent tongue-in-cheek kick of the original. Swapping pedestrians for zombies and comic cries for bland moans, the game was neutered to appease the press of the time.

I hope Stainless will issue Carmageddon: Reincarnation in the originally intended form.
