Is there a rotation system for tracks?  It strikes me there are some tracks I've never seen on DMR, and others I've seen a lot.  I have a particular issue with SS cars at SO (can't pass! can't get up to speed! can't use downforce! slightest mistake wrecks suspension!), but that's just me I guess - nonetheless, it seems to be the same stuff - we did the FOX at SO5 this time round also.

I've rephrased this about 5 times, but I can't tell you how disappointed I was with the BF1 at SO5, the Fox was too much for it, this is like caging a cheetah... :)

Ah well.  Roll on the UF1.

(edit: this sounds like a whinge, it really isn't intended to be, I just want to give some feedback - I love DMR's weekly races and I want them to be fun, I appreciate all the hard work involved but I feel sometimes the combo choice doesn't work).

The track is usually decided by whoever shouts the loudest/moans on Vent. Usually the whinging has died down by Monday when everyones got used to the combo.

Oh, and we've had all the usual combos years ago so it's odd combos that we're known for now, besides what's wrong with F1 on a street circuit?

I think the BF1 at SO Long isn't that bad - sure, there are very few overtaking possibilities but I'm usually not close enough to anyone to overtake anyway :lmfao: I think it's just going to be a matter of who lasts the longest without damaging their car so badly they have to pit for repairs.

I agree that sometimes the chosen combo doesn't work, though. Like a while back there was an FBM @ Westhill if I'm not mistaken. That's just awfully boring IMO. Of course, with the variety of cars and tracks in LFS you're bound to have some combos that are absolutely terrific and others that don't work very well.

I dont know much about this stuff, but I have been racing the current F1-city-combo and must say I love it. Precision breaking ftw! :D

I must admit that I, too was at first hesitant about this combo - both because I didn't feel competent with it myself and because of the many walls :)

But after quite a few practice laps I was feeling like I could manage the beast.  Then last night (US East coast time) I was practicing solo on the server when a few folks started showing up.  We had quite a few good races with 5-6 racers.

In one race, I traded the lead a couple of times with a Fluid racer.  I was barely in the lead exiting the final turn of the last lap.  Running down the straight he did the slingshot pass and we crossed the finish line with the exact same race time but he got the win ..... on the replay I can see he's at best an inch ahead :roflmao:  And to top it off we also had the exact same fast lap time

There was some mayhem a few times but everybody was more than civil about it.  It was some great fun - felt like the F1 racers at Monaco when in close pursuit of another car.  Just couldn't get that feeling from an XFG at South city.

The hour race may be a different story but I'm eager to see what happens.  I know that there was some frustration in not being able to restart races that were botched early ..... but I figure it helped to encourage racers to show proper restraint knowing there were no restarts.

I'll definitely be there on Thursday :boxing:

Mille Sabords

For once this summer I'll be here on Thursday. Unfortunately my laptop is gone and the new one in transit :(
The temporary solution is a 14" laptop with integrated intel card, I'll pass the F1 race with this as it would feel like getting into a Minardi ;)
