Has anyone seen the Unrest Mod?

The features are below...but the reason I was looking was the max players can be upped. I'm not sure that the result would be good, but 5v5 may be doable.

Either way, if there's any interest the files are on Coldstore ready to be server man'd. If the response is overwhelmingly negative then no worries. Don't we love a democracy here? Oh and if you all pick on me I'll blame individuals like Teabag and Oldblink. <-See how I've disguised the names?

Max hunter pounce damage is 50 instead of 25.  This scales correctly, so what is normally a 20 damage pounce is still a 20 damage pounce, not 40.  For more than 25, you'll have to go pretty high.

You can have to up 3 smokers and 2 boomers.  This way, the survivors never know what they are up against.  And, in 7v7 games, this equates to pure chaos.

Tanks are 7% faster.

When there are more than 6 survivors, when a tank comes, a second one will immediately spawn.  Both will be controlled by human players (no AI).


Overall, this makes the game MUCH faster paced, and much harder to finish as a survivor.  In my experience, teams make it to the safe room about half as often.

This mod is still preliminary, and I hope to add many more features for faster paced and more satisfying game play.


In truth the thing that interested me was incapp'd survivors crawling. Maybe a 4v4 with the mod on?

7v7, that might get a few more players interested in joining and an instant tongue drag to stop Tut and his damn shotgun.

Multiple boomers, yes, oh yes please.

And it's a tiny server side mod, so no having to talk people through installing it.

I reckon 7v7 would be carnage and frustrating in the same way CoD is when it's more than about 10 players. (and CS for that matter)
 
I reckon 5v5 or even remaining 4v4 with the additional features may be interesting.

Connecting to the server and playing (YOU CAN'T USE LOBBIES FOR MORE THAN 4v4!!!  YOU MUST CONNECT DIRECTLY!)

Once you have your server running, at the console type "l4dmaxplayers" (no quotes) and ensure that the value is 14 (or whatever you set it to be with the +maxplayer 14 and the l4d_maxplayes in the server.cfg).

Due to the nature of lobbies, for more than 8 players, you can't start your game in a lobby with ms_force_dedicated_server OR sv_search_key.  Connecting from a lobby will force your game to have no more than 8 players, despite the "Left 4 Downtown" plugin.  You'll have to connect to your server directly, from the console, typing "connect 1.2.3.4", or whatever your ip or hostname is.

Friends may also have difficulty joining your game from their friends list or their main L4D menu.  Tell them to try to connect directly as well.

Note that UNREST _can_ be a 4v4 game.  That's how it was originally designed.  It's just more fun as 5v5, 6v6, or 7v7.  However, if you can't get enough players to connect directly, and need to play from a lobby, just reduce the +maxplayers to 8, and the l4d_maxplayers to 8, and connect from a lobby.



I've done the file copying, you should just need to change the startup file. Something like;
srcds.exe -autoupdate -console -game left4dead -port 27031 -ip 77.108.129.45 -tickrate 100 +maxplayers 10 +exec server_unrest.cfg +map l4d_vs_hospital01_apartment.bsp

Should do it...

It should just run, it's server side only.

Right, I've added the rest of the mod.

To start and stop it

Start
rcon sm plugins load sm_hunter_games
rcon hg_enabled 0

Stop
rcon sm plugins unload sm_hunter_games
rcon hg_enabled 1

Once loaded you need to bind a key (or type in console) hg_admin

There are 5 games I think.
Tag (or 'IT') - One hunter is 'it' until he swipes another one
Pounce Race - First to the survivors gets the points
Lava - get to the survivors without touching the floor
Hunter Race - obvious

and some other crap.

It's all a bit cheesey but may wile away the hours for a couple of people whilst they wait for slots. (I think the 10 player thing will work anyway, we just need to disable the mod)

Right I don't think I'm in the list so can't run the hg_admin command.
Also when I tried to reset the server using the unload and disabling the hg_enable it went all pants and I spawned outside the map. Tried changing levels but still the same result.
So I've restarted the server.

Ahh the restart seems to have put it into hunter games mode!

Just unloaded the mod and it's back to normal again, phew!
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Well this MOD has proved one thing, we can't hunt for toffee :roflmao:
 
I keep meaning to download one of the hunter training maps but just never got around to it. Might have to try just that little bit harder and show some dedication :g:

It's a bit poo innit.

I think there's a .smx file that allows more players on. It's still saying max players has increased so although I've disabled the mod, it may still accept more players...we'll see I guess.

Maybe put the hunter training map on Coldstore instead of the mod?
