Slider 46

In the interest of generating more interest, i'll kick off.

I qualified 4th behind Cueball who seemed to have a blinding start and was 1st into the first tight section. I couldn't see what happened or indeed that it had happened, but he was facing towards me coming out of the chicane. As i broke, the unsighted Seany gave me a tap which sent me sideways into Cue'. Lucky he was still there as i bounced of him and straightened up.:D
Crazy Andy was through so i was still 4th. He seemed to be having a few grip issues but made himself wide enough that i couldnt get passed untill the last turn of L4.
I was abit light on the fuel so i set off in pursuit of Ed and Dee and was slowly closing the gap until L15. Ed got the flatty which let Dee through but i couldnt get round the 3 tyred Ed until he pitted.
As i couldnt catch Dee, that was that, well done Dee. Im happy with 2nd but even happier that i made it round for the hour without having to fix anything.
Well done to 'thems wot made it round'.

Well - about my worst race ever, despite qualifying first just 0.01 off my PB.

Yeah, Cueball got a great start from 3rd managing a perfect inside line pass on the first turn to take the lead.  I'm sure he was feeling really super for about the next 20 seconds. But what happened to him exiting the chicane was .........me.  He had gone a little wide into the chicane and I was on a smooth line set up nicely to exit.  Because of his wide line he was 10 mph slower than me for the right exit.  I badly misjudged our relative speeds and well, he ended up facing the wrong way in heavy traffic.

So a big apology to Cueball for taking him out (and also for nailing him in a earlier 6 lapper at the downhill hairpin)

"Funny" thing was that I didn't realize it was my fault at the time and didn't say "sorry".  Same thing when I rear-ended Slider46 in a similar fashion in an earlier race (and he apologized for MY mistake!!). Must be the long nose on the BF1 or "lag".  Still, clearly my bad for being too close exiting slow turns. I watched the replays from every angle about 50 times as a form a self-flagellation :woot2:

And the race was downhill from there for me.  Even being forewarned by Joe that the walls are not kind to the suspension, I accumulated enough damage from tapping walls that by lap 10 right turns were getting difficult.  And on lap 14 the result was a blown tire.  Had to limp 2 laps that way.  When I pitted to fix tires, I hadn't set damage repair on.  So next lap I pitted again for repairs.  But I also took on more fuel each pit.  As I was already lapped by everyone, I just tried to stay out of the way the rest of the race.

Just the perfect reminder that RACING is not about the fastest lap

Congrats to DeeSlider, Slider46 and obsolum for keeping it all together :thumb:

Tough race, think I qualified 6th or 7th .  Got off to an ok start but then found a stationary Slider in the chicane :D.  That caused quite a bit of suspension damage, it didn't feel that bad a first but it was causing me to run wide shouldering walls adding to it.  However, I decided not to fix damage at the pit stop because I kind of got used to it and I figured it would take an age to fix.  This seemed to work quite well as I was up to third and had quite comfortable a lead on the next car.

However, toward the end of the race I see a car making alarmingly good ground on me each lap, none other than Mr.Obs.  I almost held him off, but on the last lap I tried to defend into one of the first few corners and ended up making it easier for him to pass  Nicely done mate :).  So frantic was the pressure I broke through one of my racing callus' oooouch!

maybe if I had fixed the damage on my pit I would of had the pace to stay ahead, but maybe he would have got ahead anyway because of my long pit...I guess I'll never know :D

well done Podiumers and finish takers :yahoo:

An interesting read! I wish I could have been there for the race as well. With respect to the new combo I am no deep water, I just can't get my head around the drifting bit on the Rally... :blink:ø

How do you choose mid-race whether to repair or not, fuel or not, tires or not etc?

Gnomie

Press F12 and navigate through the menu which pops up.

Advice: try this before your first race so you don't have to take your focus off the track during the heat of battle! :)
