Not sure if anyone else watched the Derren Brown show on Wednesday and tonight. Basically he correctly predicted the numbers live on Wednesday as the BBC draw was taking place. Then he promised to reveal how he did it on tonights show.

The method for doing this isn't rocket science and it certainly isn't psychic, but basically he didn't reveal anything. All we got was an hour of waffle about some collective group  predictions and no real explanation at all.

If we're promised an explanation then give us one. If not then don't make the claim in the first place.

Here ends my mindless rant. Don't ya just love this forum for being able to blow off steam :)

For those who care -
The balls were not predicted before the draw. The trick uses a false perspective wall behind the stand with the balls on it and add the correct numbers as soon as they were being read out. Here's a clue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-c8_OFwZoY
Reminds me of the undercover magician the one who used to show you how they do magic tricks.

He covered his face to hide his identity and the show use to broadcast on saturdays around 4pm

That show was simply awesome :).

I agree Smilo its a way of making high volumes watch channel 4.

Can i just add the advert of derren brown walking backwards into traffic and avoiding it should have been removed from screening by the regulatory bodies. I might be being a bit over the top but seriously wouldn't you as a child think dodging cars was easy by this advert and think playing chicken was cool and possible.

next weeks episode with the subliminal messages looks awesome though! Looking forward to that

Ok I just watched it. What a load of rubbish. He didn't do either of the two things he said.

It was the mouse cage trick all over again.

There was no mouse in any of the 4 cages, you believe he labelled the one beforehand with a mouse because he tells you. So if he then shows you a mouse symbol (which is a fairly easy sleight of hand trick for him) you believe he predicted the right one. The knife trick is harder, but then again he has more time to work with the man. He's shown in other tricks he can talk to people and influence their decisions, the time he spent prior to the trick will have been priming him.

If he'd genuinely predicted the numbers he could have shown them prior to the draw. Nobody can buy ticket after about 7pm, so it's safe to show them, and would be much more convincing.

If he had genuinely rigged the machine the same would be true. He mentions this as a misdirection.

I imagine Smilo is right about how the trick was performed. I'm just pointing out what he would have done if he had genuinely predicted the numbers before the draw.

It was total waste of time and we were left more confused that when we started. :sideways:

Yup.  Pretty clear to anyone with half a brain that there wasn't even a hint of truth in his explanation of how it was done.

Sadly this means that an awful lot of people will have believed it.. :P

DarkAngel

Recorded it, watched 10 minutes of it, deleted it.

What a load of bs and waste of time, quite a cheap trick just to boost ch4's numbers. :ranting2:

From what understand the guy needs formal education in the meaning of words. Prediction means before ... not after.

If he had read the lottery numbers before the draw I had been impressed.

I keep watching it in the vain hope that one of those vehicles, especially the bus, will actually hit him!
People are so gullible, magic is all just slight of hand and lying. Admittedly some of it is very impressive and clever.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.
