So who do we have that follows this great sport ?
I have been following MMA for the past few years, mainly UFC but now I'm trying to find all the good fights and organizations. One of the most interesting fight in a long time is coming this weekend, Fedor- Rogers anyone planning to watch it ?

I've got an inexplicable 'professional' attraction to The Ice Man. The current UF series is only furthering that.

I don't mind Tito, but he is annoying in general. Was the same with Matt Hughes against whoever he was paired against.

In general I watch it, quite enjoy it, it's brutal :)

Not sure if you are meaning TUF(The ultimate fighter, as in the reality series) or the UFC events that generally takes place once a month.
I think TUF is ok, it is fun to watch and gives some insight, but then again it is a TV show and made in those terms. So it doesn't always give you the full reality.
Watching the UFC events is a whole another thing, there are better fights and better athletes than in the series.

Note that UFC is not the only major MMA organization, there are also DREAM, Strikeforce and M1 that also makes events happen. MMA is also the fastest growing sport now, more and more people are watching it and starting to practise it as a hobby. Even major fighting sport like boxing is getting left behind.
And talking about brutal, well yes it looks like there aren't any rules at all but there are still some, and those are very important on the fighters well being. Also the fact that the fighters honour their opponents is a awesome thing.

Must have missed this thread first time around...

Korean zombie fight was awesome! One of the best brawls ever.

Looking forward to Machida/Shogun 2 though. Who you got Lex? I'm rooting for Machida and Daley. :boxing:

I would say Machida if he takes the more aggressive stance and don't let Shogun to kick his legs. Also if Koscheck is stupid enough to stand with Daley,he is going to neverland. But I fear that Koscheck will only take Daley to the ground and win by lousy points.

QuoteMAIN CARD
* Champ Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (for light heavyweight title)
* Paul Daley vs. Josh Koscheck
* Jeremy Stephens vs. Sam Stout
* Alan Belcher vs. Patrick Cote
* Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. Matt Mitrione

I would say:
-Machida by TKO in the 2 round
-Daley by KO in the first round
and Kimbo by decicion

As a person and street fighter he is awesome, as an MMA fighter he is crap :)

I like Kimbo, that slam on Houston was great. Other than that, he is a bit shoddy. Still, he's entertaining to watch, especially in the Petruzelli fight... Oh wait, he got TKO'd in 14 seconds. Still entertaining though :narnar:

There are lot of interesting fights coming up:
-UFC 113 next sunday(early morning in europe)
-Strikeforce - Heavy artitillery on May 15
-Mariusz Pudzianowski has fights this friday and on May 21, he will fight Tim Sylvia
-Next UFC event is on May 29

Those I can just think on top of my head.

Tomorrow Roger Heurta is fighting Eddie Alvarez in Bellator. Eyes peeled, should be a good'un!

Having been a good forum admin I just fixed the broken links on the previous page.  Having then seen the content I felt slightly sick at the level of violence so put a warning on it.  Sorry if that makes me a weak-minded liberal or something, but I thought it appropriate.

Warning might be in place for sure, but what people should understand is that MMA is a sport. And as it seems to be ultra violent, it actually is not. All the people fighting knows how the system works, and they have a huge respect over the opponent. And they are not going into the ring with hurting the opponent on their mind, they just go to fight and see who is the better man. Very like in Boxing, which in fact has a higher death rate than MMA, as there has not been any deaths or serious injuries in the UFC organization. Or talking about Rugby, deadliest sport in the world and still so many people practice it on daily bases. You can also see violence in a ice hockey match, in form of fights: there is blood and people hit eachother with bare hands. MMA is controlled fighting, in a ring where there are doctors and a referee watching it all the time and last but not least the two people going in knows what they are doing.

Also the fighters are taken care of after the fights, like both fighters in the korean zombi fight, got a 6 month ban from fighting, because of medical reasons just to be safe.
This post is not pointed to anyone, but more as a general things you should know about MMA. As the whole time this sport has been going up it has been heavily criticized by it's violence and sometimes even without a reason. People watch boxing while it is in many ways more dangerous than MMA and it has had many deaths over the years. Still it is though to be "safe" and that you can drive your kids to boxing practices with a clear conscience. So what is the problem with MMA then ?

Quote from: Toxteth;309558Tomorrow Roger Heurta is fighting Eddie Alvarez in Bellator. Eyes peeled, should be a good'un!

QuoteThe four fights:
Eddie Alvarez vs. Josh Neer: Alvarez is the promotion's lightweight champion and generally considered the best fighter under contract to Bellator. Neer was let go by the UFC after losing two fights in a row in 2009, but he's now won two fights on small shows in 2010, and he has a big chance to prove himself to the MMA public against Alvarez. If Neer can get Alvarez down and get on top of him I wouldn't rule out an upset, but I do think Alvarez deserves to be a heavy favorite.

Roger Huerta vs. Pat Curran: Bellator really, really wants Huerta to win this fight. He's their golden boy and they very much want him to win the lightweight tournament and fight Alvarez for the title. Curran is an underdog, but he's not a pushover: As he showed in the Bellator tournament's first round (video above), he has one-punch knockout power. I expect Huerta to win by submission and move on to the lightweight tournament final to face the winner of ...

Toby Imada vs. Carey Vanier: Imada will always be known as the guy whose inverted triangle choke was the 2009 Submission of the Year, but in some ways I think that sells him short: People forget that he's won 10 of his last 11 fights, and the only loss was to Alvarez. Vanier was a good college wrestler who's stronger and more athletic than Imada, but I expect Imada to submit Vanier and set up a lightweight tournament final fight with Huerta.

Cole Konrad vs. Pat Bennett: Konrad just started fighting professionally in January, but he has MMA fans excited with his potential. In college he followed in Brock Lesnar's footsteps at Minnesota and actually accomplished even more than Lesnar did, winning two NCAA heavyweight titles. Konrad also won a gold medal at the Pan-Am Games. He's now turning his attention to MMA, and has built up a 2-0 record. Bennett is 1-0, so these guys are at similar MMA experience levels, but they're not even close to similar in their athletic backgrounds, and Konrad should win handily.

And if I remember it right, Bellator puts all the fights to youtube with very good quality.
