the PSU is 600w. as it all tested out ok i'm now onto the gfx card if that tests out ok then i think its safe to say its the motherboard or cpu either way its upgrade time. :sideways:

 sounds almost identical m8, what specs are you running?

AMD 64 x2 (4200), 2GB RAM, 1TB SATA HDD (new), 600W PSU (new-ish!), PowerColor HD4670 GFX (1 year old)

Not a happy bunny - I've RMA'd the GFX and if its a "No Fault Found" I'll get charged :(

And am not looking forward to having to explain upgrades to SWMBO!

I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.

graphics card tested and working fine . So looks like its the mobo and cpu :(
So i'm after a new board and chip , anyone recomend the i7's ?
I'm a little confused (not hard i know) about the i5's & i3's or is it worth the extra money for the i7's
I was running a dual core so if i'm spending money i would like a decent jump in performance :)
Any advice ?

All this talk of new PCs, has got me looking around - I may have to sell my soul to SWMBO, but hey....

What do you think of this:

QuoteIntel i5 750 Quad Core Processor
4096MB OCZ DDR III Memory
Asus nVidia GTX260 Graphics with DVI & HDMI
1TB Samsung F3 SATA II Hard Drive
22x Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter
Internal multi-card reader
5.1 HD Surround Sound

Includes Windows 7 Home Premium, and would be mine for Ã,£699.95 inc VAT....

I would stick to the i5 and i7's, them seem to have a decent jump over it's predecessors, Kreg mentioned that he built a i5 that was close in performance to a i720, so there might be a saving in going to a i5?

Motherboard wise, might be worth looking at one that supports DDR3, I think the prices have dropped, but not looked in while, might be worth investigating :g:
 Bring on the randomness!
Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?
