BOTH my mums and sisters laptops are having the same probem.

the wireless was working fine but now they are both saying "connected with limited connectivity"

ie they detect the router and that it is connected to the internet but cannot connect through the internet through it!

i have tryed looking around in the settings and have tryed a system restor and cannot get it connected to the internet.

has anyone else had the same problem with vista, there looks to be lots of people around that have had similar problems but i cannot figure out what they are on about.

help ---- stop them moaning at me.

First off check the IP if it is a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx it is a windows default and suggest that they are not getting DHCP from the router.

Restart the router. They could be clashing ip addresses, or it could have locked etc.

If you're with Virgin media restart the cable modem too as that regularly gives me the problem you describe.

Do you have MAC address wireless security switched ON in the router?  If so and the laptop MAC addresses are not configured in the MAC address settings of the router, then this 169(etc) IP address will be configured and therefore not able to get to the Internet.

so turn it off and turn it on again then........

they were connected and working perfectly happily till very recently, so I think they must be clashing now or something.

Your router's DHCP server has probably got itself in a twist - rebooting the router ought to fix it.
