Hi Folks,

As I am just sitting here at Clapham Jtn dreaming about when I get home and actually get to play this game thought I'd pose the question.

What settings are we all using and what GFX, RAM and CPU do you have to be able to allow such settings?

I have a 4870 512MB ATI, 4GB of 1066 RAM and. Q6600 clocked to 3.2GHz

pretty much the recommended spec so how far can I push this up the quality stakes before performance is too poor to play?
Cheers, Bert

Just seen this on steam forums
QuoteGuide for FOV customization
Follow this guide to change your FOV setting for BFBC2.

Skip #1-2 if already familiar with location of settings.ini

1. open the folder "C:\Users\username\Documents\BFBC2"

2. in the folder, open the "settings.ini" with notepad or any text editor.

--------------------------
*IMPORTANT*

Now, how the FOV works in BFBC2 is rather esoteric.

Unlike most games like BF2 and Source engine games, BFBC2's FOV setting changes VERTICAL FOV, NOT HORIZONTAL.

because of this, you need to use the following website to convert the horizontal fov value to vertical fov value.

luckily, this nice fella made a quick converter with a handy dandy equation to convert the values.

http://rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php
--------------------------------

3. Enter the resolution and your desired FOV on the converter.

4. Once you obtain the converted FOV, go back to the settings.ini

5. In settings.ini, locate the line that says "fov=55" (it's the bottommost item on mine).

6. replace the numeric value with your desired fov, save, and you are all set to go.
props to CaptainTutle

FOV was something that I sensed wasn't right last night, so I may have a fiddle with it later

Edit: what is a good FOV d'ya reckon (1920x1080)

FOV = Field Of View.  ?

I like somewhere around 300 - 360 :-)
Cheers, Bert

yup:)
default is 55
calculator says mine should be 59 for a 90degree FOV.
90 degree was the default on the calculator, is this a good figure?

QuoteExplanation

FOV (Field of View) determines how much of your surrounding area you can see without turning.
Usually in FPS games where this is configurable, you adjust the horizontal field of view so you can see more to the left and right. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 uses vertical FOV instead, so it's a little harder to work out what you need to set it to. Here's the formula, bearing in mind it works in radians, not degrees:

[BIG]magnus

I am running more or less full everything except 4 x AA.  All high settings HBAO on 16 x AF at a res of 6028 x 1080.

Core i7 920 @ 4 GHz
6 gig ram
ATI 5970
2 x Velociraptors in raid 0

This runs much much better than the beta.

Tutonic

i7 930
6GB RAM
Geforce GTX 260

I've got everything on high, 4x AA, HBAO on, and it seems to run very nicely indeed at 1920x1200

I changed my FOV to 90 degrees using the calculator (LINK) and it was much improved.
Really simple to do.
A++++would deal again

Snokio

I don't have an option to change my FOV, it's not there :(
 Bring on the randomness!
Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

If you look in my documents find the BFBC2 folder open the settings file with note pad at the bottom you will see the FOV setting default is 55.

I've been reading some more FOV threads on various forums and the only info I could find mentioned 110 degrees FOV.
This works out to a value of 78 in the settings.ini
Just tested it and it seems ok although it does seem to distort the edges as you pan.
hmmm:g:
I'll give it a go in battle later to see if I get used to it.
