dMw LAN XV

The dMw LAN is one of the corner stones of this community.  It a great chance to put names to faces, meet members you donââ,¬â,,¢t know and have a bloody good laugh and most importantly play some games and sometimes win some prizes.

In the Spring and the Autumn up to 44 of our members invades a hotel in March, near Peterborough.
There is a general outline for the weekend but it can change a little but here is the outline.

Friday

Arrive, check in, and set up your machine, more people will be arriving and so you can help or slink off to the bar.  The most important action is to put your name down for which competitions you wish to play in.

Friday night is steak night, the Hotel orders in some great steaks and we all sit down for a great meal.  It a really good place to catch up or meet people not attended a LAN before.  A very social activity which sets you up for the rest of the weekend.  Then back to a bit of gaming then bed.  Or not the room will be open until the last one leaves and the room is locked when the last one does.

Saturday

Breakfast and the competitions which usually start off at 11 am so make sure you sat ready for some gaming.  We usually run about 4 or 5 competitions though out the day.  There is also a prize giving ceremony and a auction.

After the competitions most people get some more games running, we have a servers on site so we can run any supported games, but the network can handle people setting up their own games on their machines.  Play as much as you like or chill out in the bar it really up to you.

Sunday

Up breakfast and a few more rounds of a couple of games, then pack up and make your way home with that tired but happy feeling you get of a great weekend.

One of our members wrote a Virgins Guide to ââ,¬Å"The LANââ,¬Â it really gives a good idea of what to expect, the games may have changed but rest hasnââ,¬â,,¢t.

You can find that guide here:

We hope you to see you at one soon!

Looks Good. Need to change the number as we're on LANXVIII aren't we?

I think we should also re-draft the packing list and stress the importance of a virus scan and patch updates..

BrotherTobious

I just took the number from the list but can and will be changed.  Packing list might be worth a look over, but agreed stressing those last 2 points!!!
