Guys,

As I was being considered for the role, TL kindly pointed me to this thread when we were discussing marketing and promotion: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/forums/show/3837.page

I'd like to have something in place by Thursday if possible but I'd like your input. Can you give some thought to the following questions:

1. What is dMw BC2? (ideally what are we trying to achieve)
2. How is the server run? (eg: Actively Admin'd?)
3. What are we trying to promote? (the game or the community)

Please give me your thoughts by the end of Tuesday. I'd like to have a draft for approval by TL and Pen by Wednesday / Thursday.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I've got a few games installed.
Typically I look at HLSW, Steam friends, Game tracker etc. and see where my pals are before I join a game.
I am promoting the community rather than a particular game when I speak to others.
BC2 is a difficult game to promote as "dMw Style Tactical" because the in-game comms are woeful.

Indeed Blunt, but there are places like the above link where we can advertise our community and the fact that we run a BC2 server.  I'd tend to agree though that in general we look to promote the community not specifically a game.

Main aim of BC2 is clearly the fun for members, but the secondary objective has to be to spread dMw's name and community ethos to others so that they cross-fertilise into the community long-term.

I think the server is actively admin'd , or at least it is when Im on there, I have warned several people about their behaviour (not Dmw) and have used the pointy kick stick on a number of occasions.
Of course when no admin is about it would be difficult to claim active administration.

Guys,

I'm going to move this up a channel and post in the Promoting dMw thread here: http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?31388-Promoting-dMw&p=312043#post312043
