What are you guys using? Seems the official thing is currently only on Verizon in the US, the lite version is no longer available, and the original alternative fring is blocked or something?

I might be able to persuade the people concerned to use some sort of "proper" voip programme...

Don't think there is a proper alternative. Looking around at various forums and blog comments etc, you'll see that there are tons of frustrated users out there not understanding why their favourite voice comm application isn't available for Android. And what's even worse, is that Skype doesn't seem to provide any proper answer to why they haven't made such a thing either... They have really messed things up for themselves on this one :sideways:

Weird... I tried it a little while back, but I could never get it to work, not for voice calls at least :(

Think it was just around the time when Fring accused Skype for altering their APIs, and Skype accused Fring for messing it up on their side. Never kept up with how that argue went...

hmmm, it is as I feared from my brief searches then. Think we'll give Fring a go and see what happens. I did find hints that suggest Skype are bringing something out but there's conflicting info ("unbiased release for any android devics" vs. "us-verizon-only" etc).

I'm gradually going through all the posts in here to see what apps I should be looking for, my Desire is still relativel vanilla-flavoured :)
