Bought this router to replace a Draytek 2600VGi as I needed something that handled not just ADSL but also a PPPOE fibre connection.  The Billion does both and also provides the wireless service I need.

For those that know my home, I have a Netgear WAP  in the lounge and on the opposite side of the house a Draytek WAP on the router in my garage.  Between them this covered all points in the house, but neither was good enough on its own to provide total coverage.

The Billion router sits in the same cabinet as the Draytek, but I just did a walk around and it provides manages to provide full wireless coverage for any room in the house, something that the Netgear & Draytek could not.

So far, very impressed with the Billion.

From what I remember of your house - that's some pretty impressive wifi coverage.

What's the web interface like? I've configured a few Drayteks before and while the hardware was ok the config page looked like a dogs dinner.

Web GUI is pretty decent, but then I'm not impressed by any GUI these days...

I've been seriously impressed with this bit of kit.  The wireless performance is awesome and it's now on offer for £89.99 at Expansys.  It covers both ADSL and PPOE (fibre), so fill yer boots.

Yup, fantastic bit of kit, I've got one now and it is far superior to my old Draytek 2820.

Buy it through our Amazon affiliate link and you'll still get it from Expansys for the same price. However if you're not and Amazon Prime member then you will have to pay £7.50 P&P if you buy through Amazon which you don't pay direct from Expansys.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Thinking of getting a new router to replace my old speedtouch 510.
I want to be wired for 2 pc's and wireless for the rest of the house.
Will I be able to do this with this router?
cheers

Yes.  But the forum software won't let me write an answer that short so you get this useless sentence too.

Good wireless performance, usual 4 VLANs, plenty'o'security options, even handles both ADSL & Fibre.

Well my Billion has been ticking over nicely since Nov 2011.
Pretty good coverage in my old cottage with 500mm solid walls.
But I don't know if that 'suits you sir'

Bumpity bump!

I finally lost patience with my horrible, ISP-supplied Thomson router and took delivery of a Billion 7800N this morning.

I don't really need the extreme wifi coverage in my current flat, but the extra WAN port sold it for me (fibre is on it's way to the Cambridge area at last).

So, first things first: the router. Very impressive. Holds a very stable ADSL connection, wireless performance is excellent, advanced features are good (I managed to get it running as a VPN server in about 5 minutes).

Annoyingly, I came home tonight to find my home network going completely burzo. Pinging the router took ~900ms. Noticed a device on the network I didn't recognise, browsed to it's IP address and it's a completely different router.... turns out my upstairs neighbours just bought a pair of powerline adaptors and our networks were crossing over and causing havoc.

Easily fixed - switched my network onto a different IP range (10.100 instead of 192.168) but it was rather alarming until I figured out what had happened!
