Shock and Awe. I may have goofed.

I was messing about on the Server last night and discovered artillery. I managed to call in an artillery air drop near our base and preceded to bomb the whatnot out of the current target town. Then it occurred to me that the server is persistent and I may have wiped out a town on my own thereby denying it to the rest of the Arma community. I took a fly past in a chopper and it looks pretty beaten up with no armour and only a few ground troops. Have I killed this town or will it repair, respawn? It's still red so I'm hopeful it will recover?

Also is there a rule, guide about playing solo on this map? Should it be left for Arma II nights?

Finally what are peoples thoughts about artillery attacks before we assault a village? Had I been able to take directions from a spotter near the town I think the artillery bombardment would have been quite effective in removing armour. Then again it might have simply wiped everyone out and we'd have nothing to do other than capture the command points.

Not sure but it will be interesting to see what the effect will be when we drop back in,  Tbh mate its no real problem, it might be when the campaign really kicks off.

No rules in single player mode, I know people generally jump to have a blast so continue for the moment mate I will post if things change.

As for using artillery, we sometimes use it and sometimes we dont it really depends on the Leader,  I use it from time to time, but I know for example Benny doesnt due to it sometimes making it easier.

The joys of artillery Smilo, its a hot debate that people will have strong views on some pro some against, im sure there are restrictions which can be applied to domination and evolution blue with a 10 minute timer per barrage to keep things in order. I wont be on tonight as im off out pity as i was after some arma action.

From my perspective it's useful, but over powered. SO I would suggest if you feel you need it, use it, if you think as a squad you can take the town, then do so.

In terms of the persistency, don't worry about it, there are plenty more towns to capture, I believe there are 32 in the full cycle and we've managed about 5. In addition people will recapture the old ones (when they go stripey in the map) so there's still plenty to do.

I'd suggest we reset the server once every 2 weeks, set the order to random and see how far we get.
