FPS/RTS hybrid, the original was an amazing Half-Life mod and the devs are now working full time on the sequel (which is being built in their own engine).

The basic premise is marines vs aliens. The hook is that one player from each team gets to play as a 'commander' with a top-down view of the map. The commander can order marines to build structres/defences, as well as giving them orders to carry out in an effort to wipe out the other team.

I've just started playing the closed beta and it's already looking good, and it will have full windows & linux dedicated server support.

I played this back in the day when it was a free HL1 mod and it was really EPIC!

A bit strange that they went for the top down commander perspective but it seems to work, what happens with gorges on the alien side then as the building units from NS1 must be redundant now?

I'm pretty keen to see how this one turns out, could be an ideal deadmen game.
