Less addons make it easier to play/Raid, Discuss :D

Personal opinion as i use a basic layour of the blizzard UI and raid compontents with DBM,Omen and recount in my bottom right corner, very minimal set up and causes me no issues.

Deminion

I thought you had Recount filling the entire middle of your screen:narnar:

I think it depends what class you play and what role you play in the raid.  To answer your question though, as a general rule even a basic UI upgrade makes the game easier to play/raid as the default UI does not deliver a lot of things as clearly as a custom UI.

Wisdom doesn\'t necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself.  (Tom Wilson)
Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships. (Michael Jordan)

sheepy

generally speeking I have a totally custom UI, but it is usually and is now fairly clear and minimal

Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

If anyone can play a DOT class really well with a default UI then I bow to their greater skill. :worship:

nah demi ive got recount just below omen in bottom right corner, and im alright using the default UI as my rotation is stored on my numbered keys with anything extra above...yes im a clicker :D i have seen a few addons ive considered trying to use such as an extra rage bar at bottom of my screen (i cant see numbers on mine unless i mouse over it) but i generally know when its over 65 anyway (this is for part of my rotation)

Always played my warlock with the default UI as affliction with good results. For some reason I struggle with an SP maintaining dots on >1 target - mainly as the buttons dont work probably after casting VB SW: P - it's like the GCD swirl around the buttons fails.

Azunai

+1 for minimal UIs. As little screen space occupied as needed imo. Though ofc that doesnt have to mean less addons, just less space taken by them.
or Garrit, or Torgen. Also, Livestream.

Sounds like you need a custom UI. :P

and +1 for what the Sheepster and Az have said.

The key to me is the UI's ability to pass on relevant data to you in a timely fashion whilst still allowing you a good clear view of the environment.    Everything on my UI is centred around where my eyes will focused - near my feet and on my timers.

In my opinion this is where most raiders fail, they might have the info on their UI somewhere, but it is usually not in a place where they will immediately absorb the information without conscious effort.  That's the difference between a custom UI and the standard UI.  The degree of customisation needed changes from class to class and with roles, but I'd go so far as to say a good UI will always improve the player's raid performance.

And as Az said, it's not necessarily about the number of addons, but certainly how you organise them and deploy them.

For the record, this is my current UI addon list:

ArkInventory
Auctionator
Bartender4
BigBrother
Clique
DXE (Deus Vox Boss Mod)
eePanels2
Elkano's BuffBars
EQcompare
ForteXorcist II
Grid
GTFO
Pitbull4
Postal
Prat
Quartz
RaidComp
RatingBuster
Skada
Squeenix
TidyPlates
TooManyAddons
WebDKP
WhoDrop
Xloot

I use the standard UI interface <.<

TeaLeaf

In all seriousness, that scares the hell out of me!

Oh, wait a sec, we're in different raid grups.  In which case I'm fine with it
